Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

It's a steep price but he's a good football player with a lot of experience.

I suspect Bennett will be going for something similar, and Bill thinks he needs a WR with Sanu's quality rather than a big name who is seeing the field 15 times a game.

I may be wrong

Didn't think Elway would trade Sanders to the Pats. That being said I would have gone for it. Have to win now. Brady is not getting any younger. Hopefully Sanu gives us depth and some Gordon insurance? How old is the guy? Do we retain him after this season? I'm not sweating the pick. LFG!

It's insane to me that with the way his stint went here anyone could be delusional enough to think he was coming back.

The were several on this website!!!!!!!

.

I am hoping we rest gordon until the eagles game. Let him get healthy. Hope he’s not put on IR.

The problem i have with the trade is that we have those type of guys on the roster. People where complaining about our wideouts having a tough time getting separation. Someone mentioned he gets separation but he’s not a guy that’s gonna wow you with speed and quickness.

He ran a 6.88 3 cone at the combine so how is he not quick? Gordon, assuming he's back, and Dorsett can stretch the field when necessary.

Plus, a WR who gets separation is a huge asset. There aren't that many in the NFL.

I was hoping for a TE...but Sanu will help the offense. I guess Tomlinson didn’t block well last night. If they only sign TE Allen and nobody else for the remainder of the year...I think we’ll be ok on offense.

I'm absolutely delighted. Mohammed Sanu is an intelligent, versatile and highly professional WR, a perfect Belichick guy. Not surprised to hear that Belichick has been trying to acquire him since the draft.

Hope he has fun catching passes for the GOAT.

Oh and I don't care about the 2nd, it's probably fair for the kind of player Sanu is. We're in a situation where we have a limited window to contend before Brady retires , of course we'll be free with draft assets for the time being.

I felt a 2nd round pick was too high, would’ve been fine with a 3rd. BUT, it’s obvious that Belichick feels Sanu is a great fit for his offense. He’s been trying to get Sanu for years. I believe he was a draft target, then he tried to sign him as a free agent after he left Cincy, And according to reports, tried to get him during the 2019 draft.

It is what it is. Also, he’ll be on the Pats next year too, still under contract. He’s a big physical receiver who can play the slot or outside. Nice pickup. Especially if Gordon will be gone for a while.

Pats are going to have what 3 3rds? Losing a 2nd is not a big deal for me because they can easily move back up

Always set themselves up for this and it works.

We all want that burner who can catch the 50 yard bomb and take it to the house, but the Pats don't have the line right now to allow those plays to develop. We saw last night when Brandy tried to go deep to Meyers and got hit causing an interception. With that said, I'm good with Sanu who can run short to medium routes. A second round pick might be steep but he's still under contract next year. Hopefully Wynn comes back and stays healthy the remainder of the year and we can pick up a swing tackle before the deadline to add depth. I'd also like to add another tight end but the Pats can only do so much with the CAP.

Wow! This is one of the worst trades/overpays BB has done. Sanu has looked washed up the last few games and likely will be released after the season. He is not and never was a good WR2. NOt sure what games some of you were watching. He has good hands, yes. I'll give him that. He'll help with depth and this may signal that JGordon may be out for few more games. This is a desperation move because BB couldn't squeeze any other good receiver (we need a WR NOW!) from other teams and the cost(salary cap as well) was likely too high. The good news is we are not good at picking in the second round. I would not doubt it another trade is made especially if BB clears some cap space and/or trades Bennett.

At this stage of his career age 30....he’s more like a 4!.....I guess my first question is why is Sanu so much of an upgrade over Demaryius Thomas who we basically owned for peanuts?!?!

Do you actually watch the Pats or just troll the forums? I don't see how you could possibly even follow team and make a comment as if we could have kept DT at that point with AB signing. BB is a great coach, but you seem to think he has a crystal ball and can know AB gets cut, Dorsett pulls a hammy, Edleman hurts a rib, and Gordon hurts his knee. They want Harry on the field asap as their 1st pick. DT was traded because there was not enough room at that time. The player you dump instead of DT is Gunner, who is cheaper and can return punts.

Second, this team does not have a 1,2,3,4,5... The Patriots do not operate that way. The best position has been the Welker/Edelman slot. Everything else revolves around it. We have not had a #1 since Moss. Real life does not follow Madden.

I don’t know. I’ve never argued for Gunner...I’ve questioned why he’s on the team. You’ve confused me with someone else.

I’ve just pointed out that Berrios had two years to prove himselfand Meyers is much better.

No I didnt.

Gunner is no better than Berrios, but Gunner players with the GOAT HC and QB and Berrios doesnt.

“That’s Tom Brady over there”. Sanu is going to be just fine for us.

He hasn't even played a snap in a Patriots uniform and this is Bill's worst trade ever? Get a grip.

You're arguing against an FFL mindset.

They won't know what you're talking about. To them, the player needs to be categorized for their spreadsheets. :p
