RUMOR? Patriots interest in AJ Green?

Has he been suspended?? Bring the reprobate back. Chiefs have their bad guy, we should have ours
What happens to :

1) his grievance against the team
2) his comments about the owner
3) his old deal
4) his “new” deal
5) the de facto suspension that he’s currently serving w/the league
6) his formal investigation
7)his piss poor “me first” attitude which was on full display during his recent court appearance
8) the public outrage, loss of endorsements, etc

Aside from those concerns, he’s a perfect fit!

Definitely need another WR. Dorsett injured and no more than a WR3, Harry is an unknown and Brady has zero patience with rookie WRs, Gordon is very strong and tough, but has lost his speed and reflexes which made him great he can’t separate anymore...Edelman being required to do too much work.

I’m all for AJ Green or Sanders if we can make it work with the cap

Manny Sanders seems to be only realistic option.

Need to do something. The only good defense we have faced shut down our offense.

On the road, with half the offense nursing an injury (I don't think that's even hyperbole) against a defense more mature Patriot offenses have struggled against. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Beyond that, there is almost nothing another weapon would have done to improve that Buffalo performance. The O was sunk by the OL and that's the unit that will determine how the rest of the season unfolds. If they don't improve significantly, adding a non-elite skill player is like throwing a pine scented air freshener on a mountain of manure.

have we ever had a late camp/midseason receiver acquisition actually become a productive player?
AB is the only guy who came in and showed flashes...is any ANYBODY else?

I'm sure many have already responded, but I would still count Josh Gordon in the 'productive' category.

Deion Branch in 2010 was productive (but I know, I know, he almost shouldn't count. that was a difference circumstance).

Jabar Gaffney and Dough Gabriel in 2006 were decsent.

Any $ we use to free up cap space should be used to fix our OL, you bunch of madden playing nimrods

I never played Madden. I don't bet on games. I don't play fantasy football. I'm such an exciting guy.

Wynn's return goes a long way towards taking care of the OL.

1. Next year we are projected to have around $55MM in cap space. In that space we will need to resign or replace TWENTY FA's, including Brady, KVN. Collins, Shelton, Thuney DMcCourty, JJones and 13 other guys who are currently helping the team to a 5-0 record.

Not saying you are wrong but except for Brady any contract next year can be more backloaded. With smaller cap hits in the first 2 years. Once again don't think of the cap as we have 55 million to spend next year but use a 2-3 year window.

At some point we will see if BB starts backloading deals given that in 2-3 years there most probably won't be a Brady hit on the cap and Stidham (or whoever else will be starting at that point) won't have nearly as big of a salary.

It is almost the inverse of the advantage teams have with a rookie QB in terms of cap hits.

And for the umpteenth time, no WR we add will vastly improve our team.

I honestly disagree with this. I am not saying get a top tier WR and plug him in Madden-style but getting someone who fits the system and can work inside well (like e.g. Sanders) would definitely improve our offense.

There is a reason why BB went out and despite the risk signed AB (or attempted to get Humphries). They are aware that with Gronk gone they needed someone else that Brady can reliably target in the middle of the field. Right now its only Edelman and White. This would also make life easier for Gordon and Dorsett who seem to be more comfortable on the outside.

Of course the wildcard here is Harry.

What this breaks down to for me is not that we need a WR1 but a reliable target for the MOF.

Yes to both (but I doubt either comes here).
Thoughts Coisns? Two-fer.
High rounder for Redskins OT Trent Williams and WR Trey Quinn (Amendola type).
Solves a few holes. Give Brady some added time. Helps the run game. Quinn is in the Edelman Amendola mold but bigger.
Have NOT ben inpressed with Cannon this year. Maybe Wynn to RT.Love to see how many sacks Cannon has let.

From the post game thread:

That is actually a good call. [Sanu would] be cheap, a Rutgers boy from the days of Schiano, the Pats were interested when he was a FA and could be had for about 3M at the trade deadline.

The only question is what it would cost in terms of picks since he has a pretty cheap contract but the Falcons would eat about 8M in dead cap.
Hooper!

Hooper is definitely better than Izzo or LaCosse. Would also be relatively cheap in terms of prorated salary but who knows if BB thinks he is a fit.

Should be also cheap in terms of draft pick. Doubt he would cost more than a fourth or maybe fifth (essentially what they'd get back as comp pick).
