You guys are brutal. It's like you all think BB is moron with no plan and just throws darts at a wall.

My guess is this is a short term move for some special teams help while a few guys are banged up. But your opinion of Richards should supercede whatever BBs plan is so flame on.

Dowling was an excellent CB prospect with good early results and on his way to starting, didn't make much contribution on ST, with a career cut short by injuries after playing for three teams.

Richards has the opposite track record as a defender but a huge contributor on ST.

Thrilled with the signing. He'll join Chung and Collins as Patriots who had excellent 2nd stints with the team.

Nothing says "title defense" like rostering Jordan Richards. Worked well in 2015 and 2017. The missing piece.

I don't hate the move, but he'll be more of a poor man's Slater that should help the 27th ranked Patriots' special teams.

Only two explanations are:

a.) STs help (specifically KR coverage).
b.) someone like Harmon, or possibly Chung (latter seems less likely), is getting traded and this signing provides DB depth, with Richards hopefully never having to actually play.

Seems very likely to be 'a' given the context.

c.) Harmon was abducted by aliens and they've been using a body double to delay recognition and give him time to return and reacclimate him to our Earthly reality. Richards is an emergency option in the event this takes longer than expected.

Personally, I consider c.) more likely than b).
