Demaryius Thomas cut

They are crazy if they waive Dorsett or Meyers. Both guys are very inexpensive and were great this offseason (Meyers without Brady, Dorsett with Brady.) Waiving Gunner, IRing Harry, or passing on DT are the likely options here, and I've been doubling down on the third. By the way, Torrey Smith was just released; not that he is some great WR, but my point is that proven veteran WRs past their prime are not like a unicorn...they tend to be available pretty often.
Yeah, but that’s just it, Torrey Smith was not a great wide receiver. Thomas was, and before he got hurt he was still throwing up 800 yards while changing teams. I think you’re really underselling the value he could bring this year.

Marcus Cannon was on PUP his rookie year in 2011 and was not activated until mid November. Did not play all that much for a couple years before turning into an invaluable player.

Man if Harry goes to IR I'm ready to stick a fork on this pick right now and move on. God damn it's the first time BB get a 1st rounder WR and the guy gets injured in his first catch in a game.

Come on
He was injured prior to that based on the reports. It flared up in the contest against the Lions. I’ll leave it to others to discuss if he should have been playing in that game so close to the initial injury.

Another example so it does happen. Not saying I'd give up on Harry just because he's IR'd just that people and reporters act like it's a free roster spot and don't consider the consequences of potential growth stunt.

Cannon if I remember correctly was drafted with a known health issue too.

Pending DT doesn't return & Harry is IR'd, it appears it'll be: Gordon, Dorsett, Edelman, and Meyers. Certainly formidable, just not as formidable as once was predicted. This isn't even factoring the fact the Pats have no legit TE. I would bring in Torrey Smith.

Just an FYI since I've seen it posted a couple of times that Thomas is 33, he is 31 and turns 32 0n 12/25, 4 days before the last game of the regular season.

Either Thomas is back or Harry is active or both.
Torrey Smith? God no.

If Gordon stays sober, they will be formidable. If he doesn't, there will be some problems moving the ball. I think that fact remains the same regardless of all the other players and combinations.

Let's not forget James White is a huge part of this offense as well, and they have Sony Michel and a highly projected RB. I think their WR corps is fine without DT and would be a little deeper and slightly better with DT. Gordon is essentially the new Gronkowski in terms of how much chunk play capability there is.

Right.
I would rather carry the rookie as an inactive for 6 weeks if need be and gave him learning and practicing than keep a different inactive player and ****** the development of the biggest investment of the off season.

I'm under the impression they were separate injuries. I thought he initially twerked a hammy and now it's a turf toe.

Also JE has only played 16 games twice in his career. And, he does have a thumb injury. He is 33 also....

just sayin.....

Maybe, although I’m not sure that’s better news. Turf toe is a *****.

No thanks, one trick pony, he sucks.

The conclusion of some was we have too many WRs if Thomas returns, so we would IR Harry. Nobody talked about no Thomas and Harry IR.

But I've been telling people, this WR group is a huge question mark but Uptown and a few others tried to convince me this is the best WR group in football. Unfortunately not close to it.

Gordon is a huge question mark, Harry is dinged up, Thomas is coming off a gruesome injury, Meyers is a rookie and Edelman is 33 and has a thumb injury.

It could be a very solid group, it could also be an absolute disaster.

Plus Harry to IR will potentially give him time to grow some hair back.

What the f.ck are you talking about? I would expect this from Captain Stone but you should know better. That’s a bizarre take,

We have had lots of situations where rookies were injured during camp or the preseason, or even go on PUP. The only situations where the player has become a contributor are the following:
Watson
Cannon
Flowers
and hopefully Wynn

There are dozens who have failed. It is very difficult to become success for the patriots after missing your rookie year. Red-shirting and the Foxboro flu as a way to success are both myths.

I don't get what you are saying?

Ok yeah that was my point just got a little confused with the way you said non-first rders.

No one has corroborated turf toe. It just came from the doctor who diagnosed injuries while watching games.

It also should be pointed out that many of those players were not likely to make the team either.
