Gronk, Calvin.

Its just sports. These guys were around 30 but their bodies were turning 50-60. That's not soft. Not a bust. Actually 3 really tough dudes. Very tough.

very smart men too. If they manage their money well, they should be set for generations. So why throw that away for some strangers' entertainment?

He was sacked less than Brady last season and his sack totals since coming into the league seven years ago are similar to Brady's. That doesn't include playoff runs, where Brady's been sacked 27 times since then and Luck 11.

Lucks been sacked 174 times since 2012, Brady 197, Russell Wilson 299..

I don't think it's as much of Oline problem as it is maybe bad luck, injury prone or whatever. Some guys can just take a beating and others can't for one reason or another.

Good kid, I wish him well and screw the colts.

Two things:

Those sack totals are a bit skewed since luck missed a year with the shoulder issue.

And we also should factor the kind of hits they’re taking on those sacks. Brady is prob the best at getting down and minimizing the damage on a lot of those sacks. Luck because of his build tends to take a lot of those hits head on which lends itself to the potential for more injuries.

Exactly.
One particular thing that got me heated was people talking abt him being "mentally worn down" etc Dealing w that type of pain, injuries can absolutely f w your mind.
All of a sudden you're not able to do things you've done since you've been walking. Thats a good part of your identity right or wrong.
No longer hanging w teammates. Joking around w teammates. You start to look at things a lot different. Esp if you have kids.

All these guys. Gronk, Luck, Calvin, I'm sure most active NFL players have suffered multiple concussions (see Antonio Brown, James Harrison, Witton & many others talk) Most aren't 30 let alone 40. That's scary **** when you consider everything else thats wrong w them. You're limping around at 45-50 & forgetting people you love soon after.

Plenty of other players to pick for your fantasy team or choose to rag on 24/7.

Well said.

I have no issue with Luck retiring.

Fans are so far removed from what players go through to play on Sunday.

Some fans act like they are entitled to a player producing or playing. It's pathetic.

The NFL is sheer hell on the body....and the mind.

I hope Luck has a long and healthy life

I factored in Lucks missed year, in that time Brady missed 4 games. The sack totals are pretty similar imo. The fact that Brady’s played more reg season games and way more post season games means hes taken an even bigger beating over that 7 year stint and he’s 12 years older...

I agree Brady gets rid of the ball fast and minimize ugly hits. watched a lot of those YouTube highlight vids with every pass per season, around 2 to 2.5 seconds like clockwork, even deep throws at 3 secs, only rare occasions will he hold the ball longer, he’s a machine.

I think someone else also noted that because of his size he will try to absorb big hits. Crazy how being big or athletic can sometimes work against these players. More athletic qbs seem to often run around a bit to much getting concussed or injured.

Yup, Luck had that Big Ben mentality which can extend plays but at what cost to his own health?

I think people forgot that 1-5 years don't make a HOF QB. Here today and gone tomorrow.

Brady, Brees and Manning have been so successful because for the most part, they have been injury free. Taking hits - even a few - is not a good thing for a QB.

Brady is someone who never stops thinking about how to improve his game every way, including how to take hits (turn limp like gumby) and if possible, hit the ground with his non throwing shoulder. He has every little thing down to a science. The thing to me is that all of those minute adjustments and improvements occur because of his drive, his passion and love for the game.

Don't think that would be happening if you've mentally checked out of the game which Luck had done. Fortunately for him, he was wise enough, and courageous enough, to be honest with himself, and put his well-being above money and having to satisfy the unrealistic demands of a fanbase and a football team. He has plenty of other things going on in his life to look forward to, and I wish him the best.

Thx. Hair today, bald tomorrow. Thx.

Hate to admit it but the Colts actually handled the settlement in the classiest way possible.

I believe if you count all hits, not just sacks, Luck was #1 for 3 years straight. I think Sharp Football posted the exact stats.

Let’s not forget that luck has an engineering major

Wouldn’t be surprising at all. O line stunk and they didn’t exactly run an offense predicated on quick passing

Espn just suggested that luck could be inducted into the hof if he never plays again. Are you kidding me?

I just heard one of the stupidest questions ever.
Mike Greenberg asked whether Andrew Luck would be the 2nd QB after Namath to make the HOF before the age of 40.
.
Edit Sorry Andy, I'm slow typist.

Perhaps Luck could have benefited from some TB12 method, idk.
Luck would have benefitted from the “Put Some Semblance of a Quality OL In Front of Your Franchise QB While He’s In His Prime” Method.
