OBJ to Pats—what do we think?

If i missed it in this thread I apologize, but how do you see our offense with OBJ? He's going to be an automatic double team, right? How will that affect Gronk (assuming he's back) and Jules? Will OBJ make our already potent running game even more fearsome? I'm interest in what you Pats savants think. Thanks.

I would definitely give up pick #32. For sure.

No other high round picks, though.

I’d actually give up the #32 this year and their second round pick, #64, in 2020. OBJ is a rare talent, and I think he would set aside the diva sh!t to play in NE. And he impacts the game at every level of the defense because he’s a threat on crossing routes as well as downfield. With that run game and passing attack they would be every bit as potent as KC, and they’ll still have a much better defense.

Basically I want them to really milk the next few years, and while it will require taking some risks I think they can do it without mortgaging the future.

What makes you think he can control himself?

We won the Super Bowl without him ...
So how is it that we need him????????????

It must be the offseason, cause every diva WR with a pulse is rumored to be New England-bound.

OBJ would open up the last piece of offensive football. We have the running, short, and midfield game down but defenses do not have to worry about the long ball so their safeties and corners can play up on us. OBJ is an excellent route runner and will improve the short and mid game as well as add the deep threat, similar to Moss (unfortunately our offensive line was no match vs Giants).

With all that said, I don’t necessarily think we need OBJ but I do believe he would settle down here.

Desire to win. He’s making it clear he wants to be in NE, and he knows what that entails. I would take the chance on him, if it works out the reward is really big.

That’s an opening bid, and if true they really are shopping him. The Patriots actually have a shot at pulling this off. It’s still a long shot, but it’s there.

They're not getting two first round picks. I would part with a first for ODB, maybe even an extra pick in a later round.

It's a risk because he is a head case but imagine pairing him with Edelman. Tantalizing.

Isn't this report from well before the time of his extension?
It was before the extension. I read a couple media people speculate that if that is what they wanted last year, 2 first rounders would be starting point now. I doubt they would get that, but it is obvious they would want way too much in return and I can’t see the Pats doing much more than 1 first round pick. I don’t think they have ever made a trade giving up 1 first rounder plus more picks. They only gave up a 4th for Moss. No matter what they do, I can’t argue. Their decision making and salary cap management has led to 6 Super Bowls. Just like every offseason, many will question and think they know more than BB which is very entertaining.
