AFC Championship: We are on to Kansas City!

I don’t think there’s much different we need to do on defense from the first game in regards to matching up personnel. Have Gilmore wipe out Watkins again, hit Kelce off the line as much as you can, double Hill.

Don’t give up another almost TD on a KO return, do a better job of doubling Hill, I’d rather not see him deep with him and Harmon alone. Clean up those mistakes like we did in the first half and we win.

We've gotta get physical with KC receivers, especially Kelce and Hill. Combine that with the biting cold and it could be a tough day for those guys.

Throw that off and things will be looking good for us.
It will take our linebackers being disciplined. Also we will have to grind out long drives because it will get ugly if our defense stays on the field for a long time

The Chiefs home defense is being talked about by media/analysts & rightfully so as the numbers are vastly superior. However:

SF
JAX
CIN
DEN
ARZ
BAL
LAC
OAK

IND

How many of those teams are an embarrassment to the forward pass, half?

The media is claiming the Chiefs defense turned on the switch during the Oakland game and is now a different unit than earlier in the year...

I'm sure this has been brought up but Clete Blakeman is going to be the ref. Yes he reffed last year's AFC title game, but he is more famous for being involved in the measuring of the footballs during Deflategate.

And to that point, using the laws of physics, assuming it's going to be 10 degrees during the game, the psi in the footballs should be between 9.42 and 10.31 psi, depending on their starting point.

We all wish the NFL would measure the footballs during the second quarter, don't we?

Bill when asked about the 2014 KC game “I don’t think that game as anything to do with this one. We’re just getting ready for Sunday.” He walked off the podium after that.

I hate sounding like a Debbie Downer, but I don't think our defense can stop the Chiefs' offense. We've all complained about our defense more than we'd like to admit this year, and now we're facing the most explosive offense in the league in their own stadium. That stadium is extremely loud and uncomfortable to play in. Maybe it's the last two trips to Denver in the Championship games in 2013 and 2015 and the KC game in 2014 that still give me nightmares, but I feel like the Pats really struggle in these environments. We beat the Chiefs this year, sure, but that was at Gillette. They still put up 40. It took another masterful performance (and a frkn clutch 4th quarter drive) from the GOAT to put them away. Don't know guys, this game will be very tough to win.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm still pumped as hell for the game. Seeing Tom at FORTY-ONE in a game like this is unbelievable. Seeing the Pats in general back in this game is unbelievable. ****ing 8 straight AFC championship games, are you kidding me? Seriously, this is the greatest dynasty in the history of American sports. It's going to take everything and more from Tom to win this thing on Sunday. The defense won't be able to win us the game. It'll have to be Tom. And despite all the talk about having won 5 rings already and a potential loss won't hurt as bad bla bla bla, I still want the 6th one as bad as ever. A loss to the goddamn Chiefs would infuriate me, not going to lie.

Edit: These frkn Dolphins, man. We'd have HFA if it weren't for those suckers. No way the Chiefs would beat us in Foxboro. No one wins there.

How does this officiating crew affect us? I hope not negatively. Not sure how Blakeman feels about the Pats after defamegate and all that.

I see this game as moreso a defensive struggle with the Pats controlling it in the hands of Brady.

Its a farce.

Car and Luck roll in and the KC defense are world beaters. Read somewhere that Luck is abysmal out side his dome in games like last week. Watched the INDY vs KC and luck had at least 4 balls batted down and up at the line. He threw at least 4 - 5 passes in the dirt with guys open. He was pretty useless for most of the game.

KC has given up 421 points
NE has given up 325 points

Please spare me how tough the KC defense is. The Pats are going to shred that run defense on the ground because KC is dead last in the NFL. That will keep Mahomes on the sideline and set Brady up with play action where he is deadly.

Sure the Chiefs had an easy home schedule. But the Pats had an easy road schedule and repeatedly crapped the bed.

2 games in Florida where NE struggles.

2 games vs former NE Pats. Patricia and Vrabel, If any guys know how to get over on the NE defense its those guys.

So with Blakeman officiating and the weather being under 20°F, I wonder how much of a factor either will be for us. It doesn't even look like snow will drop.

In the Chiefs four losses they scored 40, 51, 31 and 29. Nobody has really figured out how to defend these guys.

Their lowest scoring game of the year was 26, and that was them playing the Cardinals who currently have earned the first pick of the 2019 draft.

Game strategy might be the same as last time: score a lot and have the ball last.

Really hoping, though, that BB comes up with some voo doo defense and ends up holding them to three like he did in the 2004-2005 playoffs to Peyton's league leading offense.

**** Vermeil chimes in. I used to like him...
