Titans kidnapping Dion Lewis

I think you forgot to take off your extra-strength homer goggles.

Maybe so, but I don’t think butler had a good season last year. Don’t get that confused with that fact that he was still our #2 corner and should’ve played in the super bowl (I believe both of those). But losing the 2017 version of malcolm isn’t a huge loss imo. I don’t see much drop off since our secondary minus Gilmore that was shaky most of the season.

Like Dion as a player but this offense still runs through 12,87 and until last year 11. Paying big money for rbs isn’t necessary.

Gonna miss ya, Dion! One of my favorites!

4 years? Well earned! ......

....but, depending on guaranteed money, anything over 2 years is too risky IMO. Good decision by the pats to let him go.

I think this would be a good start (I use the word ban in place of the notion of all of us berating offenders to the point where they cry and go away, which would actually be my preference):

  1. Ban panic posting during the first 3 days of free agency, the first 2 offseason injury reports (with the requisite Brady exception, of course) and the first half of week one's game thread.
  2. Ban talking about every signing as if the player is a guaranteed All-Pro.
  3. Ban nonsensical bashing of departing players during the FA season and post-draft cuts.

In the absence of mass beheading (my preference) I am all for public berating of unnecessary panic posts. As a group we pats fans have it so good for so long such whining is unseemly. Did anyone expect Belichick to back up the money truck for 2 guys as injury prone as Dola & Dion? Of course not, so why the panic? FA hasn't even officially started and the panic bus is in full flame plunging off catastrophe cliff on Mt Doom.

they didn't watch the grass grow last year and look how those moves turned out. i could care less about Lewis and butler. amendola hurts but giving him the contract the phins did is risky considering dolas injury history.

Hard to turn down that money. Dola's part of the pats history. That clutchness will be missed.

They gave White $4m per year. Lewis is the better player. Lewis is reportedly going to make $5m per year, with the change to make an extra $3m in incentives over 4 seasons. So the idea that Lewis priced himself out doesn't hold water.

That is not overpaying.
We wouldn't match that?
That's surprising

I think we could've matched it, but probably not our biggest priority.

I'm cool this is what I expected I'm 50 50 on keeping Solder.
I want a defensive surge
No idea what to think of the Mccarron rumors he can't be better than Jimmy G.
I was in the keep him at all costs camp and maybe I wasn't too far off from that assessment.
I will never panic from Pats personal moves.

Butler was gone, and I think we all knew that. Amendola wasn't going to get that kind of coin as the WR4/WR5, and I think we all understand that. Not keeping Lewis, at $5m per year (plus incentives), is a different animal.

He did price himself out since White was already under contract. If Lewis would’ve had this season a year earlier he would be the one with the contract and not white. But it didn’t work out that way.

Patriots were never going to pay him when they didn't even use him in the Superbowl.

Exactly.

$5m yr for DLew seems reasonable.

It better be one hell of a defense. After Solder's replacement gets Brady injured,
we'll be scoring 10 points a game.

Tough to see Lewis go. I wish him well.

A little too injury prone for my liking but he will be missed.

Depends on the guarantees, we're talking about a player that's played 30 games in the past 5 years after all. I love the guy...when he is on the field. TN can afford the risk, NE can't.

I'm not sure where you're getting that logic, but it's not sound.

Exactly. Tennessee has a qb on a rookie deal. As for rbs, we’re paying white 4 mil per, Henry is still playing under his rookie deal.

I’m guessing he’s talking about cap room. Lewis won’t affect Tennessee’s situation as much.

All these losses would have felt better had we won the super bowl. I think the team's weaker but as long as number 12's under center we will win a lot of games. Just need to make sure we keep his LT around. The defense likely to be addressed in the draft. A nose tackle won't fix the defense. Need LBs and a quality corner.
