If he goes, and I think he will, he was an outstanding player for this franchise and i echo other posters that without him, Brady may be 3-4 in SB's, as tough as that is to say. Brady in the MF man, no doubt about THAT...just saying High made some great plays for this team....like all great players that were in this system, i wish him the best when not playing us...

I am holding out hope that hightower lays off the pipe and comes back to his senses. 15 mil per year? WTF. If he was bringing a consistent pass rush than i can see that.
You DO realize that the LB position, and defense as a whole, is about more than just rushing the passer, right?

I know that but i don't feel he's worth 15 to 16 million. BB has a price range.

I'm not worried, the Patriots will move on, continue to compete for a Superbowl, and Hightower will be sitting, overpaid, on his couch come next January on a team that misses the playoffs. All this while our LB core is filled with no names, rookies and versatile cast-offs, making another run at a championship.

Oh and don't forget, HT has missed a total of 11 regular season games over the last three seasons. Durability is a concern.

Why do fans get attached to players? Always root for the laundry.BB will find someone to replace
Hightower(younger and cheaper)then 4 or 5 years down the road rinse and repeat.

I would love to keep ryan somehow. This team will have alot of passing offenses next season.

The next shoe should drop tomorrow. How do the Patriots tender Malcom Butler.
Chance losing him by giving him a second round tender to save a little money?

You wanna have some experience on defense especially at linebacker. Hightower was like the QB of the defense. Idk. I still have hope he will stay.

Depends what Ryan thinks he's worth. They won't want to pay him more than say, 4-5 mil per year.
The tag is too rich for BB on him.

I'd rather see them lock up Butler, then if Ryan walks, Rowe gets a promotion. He just needs to play smarter and not take dumb penalties.

Why do I get the feeling this board will be mostly unreadable the next few weeks due to the sky is falling crowd?

I can see it now from some of the GDT All-Stars after the defense gives up their 1st first down at the season opener:

"This team sucks, I am worried they are not gelling, BB is a bad GM, what channel are the Sox on?"

Ill say it again zach Brown

I'll take Brown over Desean Jackson. I don't know why anyone here would want a small deep threat. I hope they sign defensive players as the offense is already in very good shape.

Nor do I, but Hightower has essentially excelled at every assignment he's had in this defense and has shown the ability to rush the passer when that's the play called. Dismissing him as a valuable player in this system because he didn't rush the passer on every play is pretty ridiculous.

I would love Jackson here at the right price. You saw what a legit deep threat did for this offense. Took it to a whole other level.

Roberts is a totally different player than Hightower. We will see if he can make a jump this year to be better than hot garbage in coverage.

The mistake some people are making here is to think that we will reinvest the money saved by Hightower moving on into some kind of FA/trade coup. I wouldn't bank on it at all unless some kind of situation presents itself out of nowhere.

Nowhere is in the heart of Pats territory and nothing would surprise me. They seem to have a plan for every situation (there's that word again).

So if brady is cut, BB would just find a "replacement?"

Yup. Need some guys on defense. I am hoping odrick's one of those rentals.

I just changed my avi now, seems like every player I set as my avi ends up leaving.. :(

Really learning that it's hard to get attached to a player here if it's not Tom. I suppose that it's all just part of what it all takes..

How about changing it to Jordan Richards?
