Cut Jones now!

He's not gonna be cut and really there is no reason for it.

That fumble is all, ALL, on Bill. Its week 14 for christ sake. He hasnt been able to return a successful kick in 14 weeks, 14. Ho can you still have him there by now? Its like extending Jeff Fisher when he hasnt been able to have a winning season for 5 years. Just awful.

Jones should not return kicks for the rest of the year. Let him work with the defense and keep his mind on just that task.

Work on the other issue after the season.

I don't think BB used the 60 overall pick for a kick returner.
If he is confident playing CB, I'm sure this other aspect of his game will improve

The same morons who wanted Ghost replaced are most probably also the ones that want to cut a talented player in his rookie season over what definitely looks like a mental issue. Just keep him out of return situations and use him as CB depth and reevaluate in the offseason.

What is the point of cutting him now ? What do you gain from that ?

I guess I can red x this comment which basically elaborates on a post that essentially said the same damn thing. :D

I think he should be benched for the season at this point, but he's too talented to cut. I suspect his problems are all in his head. He's nervous and that's causing him to do dumb things. We just have to hope he gets past these issues next season.

Do you have access to some practice tape that no one else has or how do you know how Jones looks during those sessions ? By all accounts (mainly beat reporter stories) he has had no issues with muffing/fumbling in practice at all. Generally, if a player looks good in practice you play him so I don't blame the coaching staff for showing patience and giving said player changes. And again you want to avoid putting Edelman/Dola/Chung (once he is back) into situations where they absorb additional hits.

Now after yesterday's debacle -- where he added another element to the issues that he already had -- you most probably have to shut him down for the year because his confidence seems to be totally fried.

Sure continue showing how clueless you are.. be my guest..

Clueless? You said the same thing as I did but red x'd my comment. Definition of clueless.

Shows that you have an issue with reading comprehension. I disagree with your notion of him "ever fielding" a return again. That's just an moronic, knee jerk statement.

You give him an offseason to rebuild, evaluate and then let him return punts next season again.

14 weeks. Im sorry, but if you suck for 14 weeks, you have no business being there. Period.

What's the point of telling me? Just do it.

Again, you have no clue whats happening in practice so your claim of 14 weeks is completely wrong anyway. You are basing everything on less than 10 minutes of exposure to him in those weeks while the coaching staff sees and evaluates the guy essentially every day.

Im basing on game action so im the one who's wrong...ok

IAN. CUT THE OP FOR THIS THREAD
NOW
DONT EVEN LET HIM SAY ANOTHER WORD JUST CUT HIS ASS FOR *****ING AFTER ANOTHER BIG WIN
THIS THREAD WAS A HUUUUUUGE MISTAKE AND WE DONT TOLERATE MISTAKED

I can't wait to listen to Fitzy slaughter this guy. I still laugh remembering, "the real heroes are the ones who didn't make it back from Harper's Muff". Seriously, how out to lunch do you need to be to be unaware that a football has hit you. Sheesh.

I can't think of a recent time anyone has made a better case for being barred from special teams. I don't think he will be back to receive again. It just isn't what is best for the team. I'm sure he can still contribute at CB. Maybe focusing on one job will help him.

Wes Welker off the street, let him fair catch every time. That was brutal. And he did do the SAME thing twice in the game (one time he sort ran to a ball and barely jumped over it barely avoiding a fumble that time) That kid is done in that role.

You don't cut Jones. He's a dynamic talent who is struggling big-time in a particular aspect of the game. I'd take him off punt and kick returns and have him focus on playing CB. At that point in the game, BB should have put Edelman in there with strict instructions to fair catch the ball. The only way Baltimore could have gotten back into that game was by turnovers, so the objective at that point should have been to take no risks. Just fair catch it with the surest pair of hands you have.

But if the Pats need a huge return, and can live with the risk of a turnover, then I'd put him in there and tell him to go for it.

Its pretty bad when ras i dowling was probably a better pick than you since providing nothing is better than what youve done.

Dowling was very close to being a starter until the injuries caught up with him. It is a well practiced method of the Pats to draft high potential players with injury histories and know that some of them will recover, others won't, and play the odds. For every Gronk, who provides a few years of outstanding play, you get a Dowling. It isn't bad drafting, it is a calculated methodology they use to try to compensate for perpetually having lousy draft position (which is a wonderful problem to have).
