Patriots set themselves up to go after big name free agents in 2016

The Patriots have never spent big on free agency and they never will.

How has spending $100m on Suh worked out for the Dolphins?

We all know that BB won't spend that much on a FA. BB will target FAs that will fit our system. It is just an interesting read. I would love for them to extend players to keep our core intact. Whatever is left, we can go after some needs and upgrades. I would love to have Alshon Jeffrey though. He is a FA is he isn't extended.

For other teams, this would be "competence."
When it is the Pats, it is "crafty."
Somehow, they must be cheating, or gaming the rules, or something, to have arrived at this place!!

Not sure I agree with said writer with Collins and Hightower likely to command a hefty raise in the next

year or two. I'm also 100% sure Chandler won't resign here for the amount he's ultimately offered.

That lost 1st rounder kills me!

It kills me too especially since I am a huge draft geek. Won't be watching the first round in the 2016 draft. I think we will lock up Collins and Hightower. Jones, maybe the pats should work on an extension now and if he doesn't accept then we trade him before the deadline.

Yeah, I've unfollowed all my draft guys on twitter and won't watch Path the the Draft this year. Too painful to read about all the Christmas Presents when I know in advance that mine has been stolen.

As for the thread topic, I agree we aren't going on a spending spree (and don't have a ton of money anyway) but it's nice to know that we can bring back every important player if we want to. Some, like Mayo, will need to take less to stay and some, like Cha. Jones and possibly Garropolo, could be traded. But except for a few low level players, if BB wants them back they're back and that's a good situation.

Well, based on my own personal history - I will probably be long asleep by the time our 32nd pick rolls in,

in 2016. It must be my thyroid.

And, yes, I am sure we do them lock them, by any means necessary. I had hoped we could've used that 32nd

pick on a corner. I guess we'll have to just buy one, or roll the dice in the later rounds. Shrugs

Brady is going to be to good for to long to hold on to Garrapolo so trading him for the first pick of the second round----#32, is still my favorite scenario. It would be a beautiful f.ck you to Goodell.

There's so many awful QB out there, I expect there will be a market if we want. JG to Houston would get their #2 this year and next, I think, with how solid he has looked in preseason and BOB wanting him in the draft.

The CB Store will be busy and NE will not be shopping in the pot luck bin again next year.

Have a number of guys we need to extend, rather do that.

I cannot envision us spending big in FA. Josh Norman is the only player I could see them spending big money on and he will get tagged.

Sheard is a UFA as well and he might command more money than Cha. Jones if he continue his rise.
