The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

What a wonderfully dysfunctional Green Beans season it has been. Hopefully there is ample rancor and melodrama in store for the off-season, followed by more circus shenanigans, losing, and abject New Jersey despair in 2013. :singing::singing::singing:
Wrecks the Wonder Clown (not to be confused with Rex the Wonder Dog) is returning so theres a good chance. It was a great year for jests suckage. And only the jests would trade for Li'L Markey so he probably stays also.

Rex sayz Woof, he agrees

Good news indeed. They'll be enough dead wood left over that they rats situation should remain static. It should be a clown-a-thon next year just like it was this year.

New GM will hopefully continue their storied tradition of off season superbowl championships.

Juggernauts from March to July.

Its interesting that most Jet fans are convinced that bringing a new GM, while keeping the HC is a mistake, and most of the better candidates would be put off by this. It's a feel a lot of fans would have. However, I think its the best move they can make. Lets face it the Jets are going to be HORRIBLE next season. They not only have bad roster they have an impossible cap situation which could see that bad roster get worse before it gets better.

If I were a Jet GM prospect, I'd see Rex staying on as a plus. I'm going to draft in the top 10 in all 7 rounds THIS season, and even if the Jets go 1-15 none of the blame will fall on me. It will all be on Rex and Sanchez.

And 1-15 is a real possibility, with 67% of their cap locked into just 7 players with untradeable, uncutable contracts, they have just $40MM to pay the other 46 players. That means cutting a lot of decent, but overpaid players like Pace, Keller and Scott and replacing them with a lot of minimum wage guys and hope you get lucky (see the Pats circa 2000) You still have Sanchez as you QB and Holmes as your top target. NOT a recipe for success.

BUT, thanks to that horrible season, I'll have another 7 rounds of top 5 picks, and probably a better draft for QB's, and a much better cap situation. Then with a new QB, 2 good drafts picking in the top 10, and some real cap room to improve my team, to go along with some of the good players that are on my roster, I'll be ready to compete in 2014

Plus think of the pleasure Pats fans will all have watching the Jets implode under Rex and Sanchez next season. It would be a proper penance for Rex. The only downside for us in this will be the knowledge that he won't be back in 2014

Dear Mr. Sanchez:

We would be delighted to see you remain as the franchise quarterback of the New York Jets as long as you are interested in holding the position. If you are, in fact, serious about holding the position, as you claim, "forever," then we will joyfully and with our full consent and agreement support you in that decision.

Long may you preside over the continued adventures of your storied franchise. We look forward to facing you on the gridiron for decades—nay, centuries!—to come.

Sincerely, and gratefully,
NE Patriots fans throughout all of time and space.

Even the Vulcans are laughing at the JEST. :singing:

You're assuming they wouldn't #%@! up the draft as they have for years now (aside from Revis and maybe Wilkerson).

This one is too funny:

Seriously, what perspective Chargers' GM is going to trade Rivers for Sanchez? Even if the Jets threw in two firsts and two seconds in the deal, the $8.25 million guarantee for Sanchez is too much. Maybe if the Jets eat $6-7 million and offer two firsts and a second, the new Chargers' GM might listen. Then again, I doubt it even with the massive decline of Rivers.

Yet again, it is the Jets brass and coaching staff living in a fantasy world. I have no fears that the Jets will be good any time soon.

How do you have preliminary trade talks with a team on the day they fired their GM

Suggestions for new Jets GM:

PT Barnum
Howard Dean
Don King

Rats fans discussing Woodhead on JI still show they have no clue. If it isn't "shiny" it has no value to them.

"He was a flash in the pan for the pasts.

Bothered taking a look at his stats this year? I didnt, but did anyhow last week......not a gamebreaker by any means."

Actually, I recommend the whole thread as a fan base demonstrates extreme cluelessness on how football games are won.

absolutely hilarious some of those morons still use the term "pasts"

Yeah our run is clearly over..

We Patriots fans seem to miss that the amazing 78.2 QB rating of Sanchez in his sophomore season is proof that the kid has what it takes to be great. Those two AFCCG appearances, don't you understand.

It's not as if subpar QBs like Trent Dilfer ever get to the Super Bowl or anything.

Lol, I was just reading that post.

There is just something about enjoying the pleasures of Jets fans misfortunes. I wish there was a word for it. Preferably German..

Actually there is a perfect German word for it: "cloud ****oo land" is the English translation.

I don't speak German so I can't give you the actual word, but it exists. It's one of those long, guttural German words which ( by the looks of it anyway) makes you sound like you are coughing up a hairball....and I know about it because it has been used to describe the fantasy world inside Hitlers thinking in his bunker as the Russians rolled into Berlin....so it is just perfect for the Jests.
