Agreed.
I'm just glad that we are no longer looking for running backs.
That is the truth, I like both Vereen and Ridley a lot. But will miss Faulk.

Ridley doesn't have a fast forty. Whatever. He looks like a football player.
But here's a warning flag: The kid only did 18 reps with the 220 bench press.
Shane Vereen, a smaller guy at the same position, did 31.
That lack of upper body strength is a concern. I think it was a reach taking Ridley when we did.
Wasn't he supposed to be a powerful runner?
Stevan Ridley, LSU, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
FWIW
mentions he had a 3rd round grade.

If there's one thing I hate most about NFL Draft talk, it's the "You could have gotten him later" argument.
You, me, and every NFL draft official really has NO IDEA who's going to get picked when. There are surprises every year. This is especially true as you move into the later rounds.
Who's to say someone else didn't view Ridley the way we did? When you see a guy who you think is going to add to your team, and you think it's the place to draft him YOU DO IT.
I had no idea who Ridley was, but after reading about him and watching the YouTube video above, i'm thinking WOW. (if you haven't watched that video or read about him, don't comment on him).
The guy just does not get taken down by the first (often the second) defender. He was predicted to go late because he only has one year under his belt. No one knows that much about him.
He's a shifty, strong, powerful back, who can catch! He and Vereen could make for a deadly duo. I'd say Ridley's "floor" is goal line back.
This is my most hated Patriot on the roster. Just hate this kid because of the stupid pick.
We pick a guy who would probably go undrafted, with 0 upside?
Effing awful.

Wow, already hates the guy..... and he hasn't even reported to camp yet.... A touch of hyperbole there.
I actually like this pick a lot.....
A really good (by all accounts) character guy, with low wear that will be used primarily ST up front while allowing us to let our ancient stable of RB fall by the way side. One of the only positions we are really fragile at last year was RB. Sure, we had BJGE and Woody, but after that, we were trotting out dinosaurs.
I'm glad BB stopped addressing RB depth through FA and went back to the draft. The 'old farts' he brought in really weren't effective. I'll miss Faulk though.
LinkWas happy BB drafted Ridley. Tough downhill runner w/power + some wiggle. Competitive. An attitude runner. Professional. Workmanlike.
I hate the whole we could have gotten ridley later argument. We may have had that deal in place with Oakland before the ridley pick was made so our last 3rd and 4th were not in play. If we really liked ridley may not have wanted to take the risk that he would have been there in round 5.
