He had the ability but didn't have the toughness or mentality.
Yes, because when a defender twists your ankle purposely, it's your fault that you get hurt..

Not really. I'm a believer in Dobson but the simple fact is he's had 3 years in New England, has done next to nothing and is less durable than Shawn Crable and Ras-I Dowling. It may be time to cut our losses and move on.
Dobson has done nothing in the NFL and is looking like another monumental high draft pick bust. That pains me because I desperately want to see him succeed.Saying he's done next to nothing and that he's less durable than Crable or Dowling are complete exaggerations on your part and ridiculous.
Chris Matthews doesn't have speed. He only has size. He runs a 4.57. He's a long strider who can't handle press coverage and has questionable hands to say the least.

My comment was we cant draft a quality receiver.
We do a excellent job finding diamonds in the rough.
However when we target a guy to use a mid to high draft pick on they have yet to put it all together.
Dobson,Price,Johnson, Tate.
Look at Pitt Brown,Bryant,Wallace, Wheaton.
I want their or Arizonas receiver scout.
Now I know alot of it is offensive system playbook trust level.
Ive heard we rely on timing patterns and route running more than other teams.
Pick number 59 can hardly be considered a "monumental high draft pick bust". While Dobson's best season was his rookie one, he has 53 receptions for 628 yards and 4 TDs. It's been pointed out that the foot injury that cost him so much time was not his fault, but that of the former team doctor. And the latest injury was because an opposing player took a liberty and got away with it..Dobson has done nothing in the NFL and is looking like another monumental high draft pick bust. None of the 32 teams put in a waiver claim for him when he was cut a couple of weeks ago, and while that's not the sole predictor of any future success, it is something to think about. He may actually flourish in the Ravens system now, especially when Jump Ball Joe returns next season.
How long is a piece of string supa? As mentioned, I want to see him succeed much like I do every player on the Pats mainly because it means the Patriots will have a strong, diverse squad but how long do you keep persisting?Remember when everyone was talking about how promising our 2013 wide receivers are? It's scary to think about now (well, it was then too), as Thompkins, Dobson, and Boyce all ended up looking pretty lousy, at least thus far.
I'm assuming that they've invested enough time in Dobson that he's worth keeping around through training camp, but his chances of making the team may not be looking too hot at the moment. We're quite likely to address the situation again in the offseason and have some receivers like Harper and Martin competing now.
I'm not going to pretend and lie that I didn't want Keenan Allen because I did but I was fine with drafting Dobson at the time. He had all the measurables and put up some excellent college numbers. The problem is, he simply hasn't fired a shot.In 2013 the Patriots took Jamie Collins 52nd and Aaron Dobson at 59.
53--Margus Hunt, DE, CIN -- 28 years old and has been a healthy scratch for all but two games this season. Has 1.5 career sacks.
54-- Jamar Taylor, CB, MIA -- Has started 8 games in 3 seasons for the Dolphins. 0 career INT
55-- Vance Mcdonald, TE, SF -- Blocking TE has 23 catches and 1 TD in his career thus far.
56-- Arthur Brown, LB, BAL-- Has less than 20 career tackles.
57-- DJ Swearinger, S, HOU-- unemployed, released by Texans and Buccaneers
58-- Montee Ball, RB, DEN--- unemployed
59 Dobson
62, the last pick of the 2nd, was Christine Michael, who has been cut by two teams already this season.
Aaron Dobson will probably have one more chance to make an impact, next season in camp. He's been a disappointment thus far, but to call him a monumental bust is great hyperbole. The players drafted around him show this.
You're right, it may be a little over the top but the sentiment remains.Pick number 59 can hardly be considered a "monumental high draft pick bust". If Dobson is let go, so be it. Then he'll be a bust due to injuries. But claiming he's been more injured than Crable or Dowling is ludicrous. Dobson at least has credit for 24 games. I don't believe that Crable or Dowling made it into double digits for games played.
Edelman was a great special teamer. And also was a qb converted to wr, not comparable.

Where did you get 6-8 weeks for Edelman? The prognosis for him is 4-6 weeks. Just like it was for Dez Bryant. And Bryant came back after 6.
Jeff Howe says that the recovery time for Dobson was also 6-8 weeks. So that would have put his return somewhere between the beginning of the post season, or slightly after the divisional playoff game. Easy IR decision for a receiver that haven't done anything since his rookie year.I got 6-8 for edelman from the articles on this site. I think 4-6 was for Dobson.
The problem is also that his hands seems to have gotten worse for every year. They started out good. But now it seems like he let every catch he made bounce in his hands first.High Ankle Sprains are a bytch to recover from.. sometimes surgery is indicated.
Dobson showed flashes of being an NFL player, but was those flashes were never sustained as he had, like so many players, a lot of injuries.. his progress as a player was impeded by his injuries.
The average career of an NFL player is about 3.3 years... Dobson will not make next years club from the tub.

Edelman has at least a week on Dobson recovery-wise, which is a lot if the targeted time is already the middle of post season.
What exactly makes you question his toughness ? Was he supposed to play through broken feet and high ankle sprains ?
I think it is a bit premature to call it completely. He has one last shot at TC next summer. Edelman didn't have many more receptions in his first three years than Dobson had. I have no expectations anymore when it comes to him.
Having a screw inserted into your foot is not a procedure that will put you back in a month, at least not when it's a "true" Jones fracture.
As a matter of fact, the first 4-5 articles doing a Google search all claimed that his season was in jeopardy. Although it seems to be widely assumed that he'll automatically return in time for the postseason, it's no sure thing. People have setbacks or complications, so there's still some luck needed. The bye week before the playoffs obviously help tremendously.
Dez Bryant missed 7 weeks, and even then many people felt that Jerry Jones was rushing him back. He remained on the injury report and likely increased the usual 20 percent chance of re injury. That's how the Cowboys work, which is about 180 degrees opposite of how the Patriots work.
That's not even bringing into account the obvious differences between Bryant jogging down the sidelines and Edelman being able to stop on a dime, use his shiftiness to his advantage, and beat DBs with YACs. It's a much different game than Dez.
