Until someone from the Pats says Welker is out for the season, I'll hold out irrational hope. On the other hand, if he is out, then I think this could be Edelman's year. An untested Tom Brady came through for us in 2002; maybe we'll see the same from Edelman.
Note to Ian: why not rename this thread the "Official Welker Update Thread?" That way we'll have a place to come as information becomes available.
I wouldn't rule the Patriots out yet. First, it may not be as serious as it looks. Second, if it is and Welker is done for the season, the Patriots beat the Chargers in the divisional round, and almost beat the Patriots in the AFCCG, in '07 with Caldwell, Gaffney and Brown at wide receiver. Moss, with anyone else, is at least as good as those guys. We'll see.No doubt about it he's done. Edleman is going to have to rise up. I mean it's not like we really expected the Patriots to do much in the post season anyhow. I figured to see a divisional round exit.
Except Welker hurt it making the cut.The sad irony in all of this is that Pollard was the guy in coverage making the hit....remember him from last year folks? Now the cut looked to be what did it to welker, it's just odd that Pollard was the guy again!
Here's hoping it's just a bad sprain. At least Edelman's stepped up

Now the hit to Hoyer where Pollard launched himself? That was dirtbag.

It's pretty obvious Wes is done for the playoffs. It's too bad really because there was ZERO reason Wes needed to play today. That little guy takes a pounding all year long and no doubt a day off would have been very benificial for him heading into the playoffs. Same for Moss who we've been told has had a bad back and same for Tom Brady who's had numerous injuries. Why Belichick refuses to protect his key players is beyond me. Just ridiculous!!! Can someone/anyone tell me what the point of playing Tom Brady for a quarter and a 1/2 was??
A huge, unmitigated, absolute disaster. He's not gonna be crying unless he's done, and not having Welker is HUGE. I was of the mind this team was at a point where they were getting to the Super Bowl, and this totally derails that. It sucks and it stinks and it sucks and it sucks.
Is there really a 0% likelihood that Welker's injury is something less than an MCL? I know it doesn't look good, but then again remember in '08 when Bruschi suffered a bad knee injury and was back in a week or two? When we learned he was called Gumby?
