Come now, I expected a little better than that -- a man of your obvious education, breeding, and all.
No in all seriousness, I agree with you're saying Pherein, I honestly do. You're completely right in saying that a lot of Seahawks fan are being EXTREMELY egotistic (arrogant actually) when it comes to this game and every game. Regardless of how I might have come across here, I'm actually not one of those. I've watched this Patriots team through the years from time to time when they've been on TV up here in Southeast Alaska and believe you me ... I very much respect their tradition and what they've done under Belichick. We had
a little bit of tradition under Holmgren, but still didn't win the big game. We've got NO tradition under Carroll yet ... and Carroll himself said this week that he's not happy with where the Seahawks as a team are at because they haven't won anything.
In many ways, I DO hate forums like these because you don't get a chance to interact face to face and really see where someone is coming from. Even a voice conference call system would be a heck of a lot better than these places.
As for me, I'm feeling confident heading in to this game -- not conceited, just confident -- because:
A) this game is being played in Seattle
B) I've seen some potential weaknesses that could be exploited.
C) Looking at the teams you've faced this year, I'm not entirely sure the Patriots have faced a defense quite the caliber of this one.
If this were being played in Foxboro ... I'd probably be chalking this one up as an automatic loss.
Personally, I'm thinking the Seahawks will win this one 24-20 ... but I could easily see it going the other way. Looking at our divisions -- I'd say that we need this game far more than you guys do. I don't know if you've looked at our schedule or not, but on Thursday (4 days after this game) ... we have to travel TO San Francisco. Now that was brutal of the schedule makers there.
So at long last, I'm flying back to the Nest. All I've sought to do over this past week is to both share insights ... and get insights from you guys -- not to talk smack (although I can definitely peck back if poked first). In all seriousness, you guys have been very gracious as a whole. You've constructed a heck of a nice Faneuil Hall here -- just don't get too caught up listening to your own speeches.
Good luck on Sunday ... the 21st against the Jets. If there is one thing we can both root for on Sunday -- no injuries to either team, please. And lastly, if you could do a favor for us up in Seattle -- go out and lay one on the Niners in Week 15 if you don't mind.
