Weather of Patriots @ Broncos and how it will effect the game

So we are now within the 48 hour mark so we probably have a very reliable weather report.

I want to talk about it in detail and talk about how it might effect the game when considering other factors.

The games starts a little after 3 (1 in Denver). It will start out at about 41-40 degrees and end at about 35-34 going down fairly steadily all game due to a cold front moving in while the game is being played.

There is likely to be some rain/light snow sometimes during the 4th quarter but it is possible none might fall before the game ends (and it is possible it might start as soon as the early 2nd half) but most reports thing it will fall before the game ends.

As far as wind there is going to be between 10-15 but gust could pick up and that is the thing most up in the air.

So the general idea is this. It will be harder to score (and harder to come back if down) as the game goes on. That could factor in and help neutralize the HFA Denver has as even if the Pats get a little tired as long as they have the lead Denver will have a harder time taking advantage of it.

Good good Peyton doesn't like it when his hands get cold, also lessens crowd noise.

problem is denver weather changes from minute to minute (or so I've been told). the weather is supposedly going to be in the low 40s at kickoff but it will drop by the second half and we could even see some snow/rain.

sounds like last game in Denver

THE WEATHER WILL BE WORSE WHEN THE RAGING STORM OF THE NEW ENGLAND GOD DAMN PATRIOTS ARRIVES SUNDAY AT 3:05PM/2:05 CENTRAL, WHICH IS NOT THE TIME ZONE DENVER IS IN. IT'S LIKE...MOUNTAIN TIME, OR SOME **** NOBODY EVER PAYS ATTENTION TO.

I hope we can use real facts and stats in this thread, so I'll just start by throwing these out:

1. "Running game is better in cold weather" does not form any basis in reality. Sure, maybe if there are 40 MPH winds this is the case, though in general, absurd conditions just make it harder for the offense to move the ball whatever their gameplan is. If they are forced to run due to being unable to pass, it makes them one-dimensional. Few running games can succeed in those conditions anyway.

2. "Passing offenses struggle in cold" weather is another side of the same coin. Sure, it may be more difficult to throw and catch some timing routes, but offenses with a quick passing attack who are able to use screens and slants may be at an advantage. If the conditions are slick, both the receivers and defenders have the same disadvantages, although you could argue it gives the offense a greater edge because the defender is forced to react and change directions in slippery conditions.

Bottom is this: the weather typically does not effect teams as much as you'd think unless there are some extremes, and the forecast does call for those. If the winds are blowing in one direction, that is why they switch between quarters.

The kicking game will be effected moreso than the offense and defense, but same thing with both teams rotating, so no notable advantage.

Cold and rainy would be worse for Manning than cold and snowy. But either way, he doesn't play well in the cold. Add to that the fact that he sucks now, and it would be embarrassing if they score more than 17.

Yep. Each day, the weather report has had snow creeping in earlier and earlier here in Denver. By Sunday, they'll be predicting snow around 8am.

Smart post, thanks.

Right now, the nws hourly has a game start temp of 47 degrees and 41 degrees at 4pm with overcast skies but no precipitation at through that time

Last years game was ~35-38 degrees with 30 MPH wind gusts. And Manning played like crap.

But this weekends game, at 40 and cloudy is a lot better than 2013, which was 65 and sunny.

If this was a home game, Foxboro would be 33 and sunny.

That's bold. I expect min of 20...Embarassin? Naw. Maybe 30 points would be embarassing.

The weather doesn't matter.... We are going to stomp them

It was 60F here today in Denver. i am expecting weather similar to the 2014 AFCCG.

From the report you gave...weather will not be a factor for TB12.

How's the weather going to be in Denver tomorrow guys?

Should we be worried?
