Ok so i am also a member of a poker forum (well im banned right now,..but anyways...) and on this forum the members often write letters to different state officials and congress people about the legality of online poker. Basically, someone will write a nice letter that everyone can copy and paste and send to their state official. Even a few people writing letters does make a difference.

That's exactly what we should do until the Jets are punished. I'll spare you all my feeling on this since we all agree it's B.S.

Here is the email i wrote to the NFL. I was thinking someone smart on here could revise it a bit and maybe come up with an email that we can all send.

Hi i was just wonder when the Jets will be penalized their 2nd and 3rd round picks.

The patriots were penalized a 1st round pick and a significant amount of money for "illegally" videotaping the Jets.
Now the Jets come out and ADMIT to taping the pats. They should be punished the exact same way the pats were punished. And since they won't be making the playoffs, that means a 2nd and 3rd round pick instead of a 1st round pick, along with a significant amount of money.

The Jets say that they had "permission" by the Pats to videotape but this shouldn't be a reasonable excuse. They violated the same league rule the pats violated and must be punished equally.

If not, i would really appreciate an explanation as to why.

I spend countless hours watching this product and spend a lot of my money on NFL merchandise and the NFL network. If nothing is done about this, its going to start looking like there are different rules for different teams in the league.

thanks for your time,

(let the ripping begin)

Re: We all Need to Email the League, Here's a letter.....................

Any mailing address or email address available?

I do agree that with enough fan (customer) feedback on any issue, at some point the NFL would be compelled to respond or take further action.

Re: We all Need to Email the League, Here's a letter.....................

It's not a bad idea, but my guess ex-Jets employee Goodell does zippo about this.

Re: We all Need to Email the League, Here's a letter.....................

It doesn't matter now. You'd need a smoking gun, which is what the Jets had when they busted NE. Now videotaping is dead as disco in the NFL.

This is a moral victory for the Pats and their fans though - basically the whole NFL did the same thing - how can it be considered "cheating" then?

The Pats broke a rule, they aren't angels, but they aren't devils either.

Pocket Fives, 2+2....?

The smoking gun is Mangini's statement. It's enough for the NFL to demand the tapes from the Jets.

On a poker sight?

Poker guys bare a pretty focused bunch. I can see why they wouldn't want to talk football while they're talking cards.

it was in the "sporting events" section.

Basically i would always argue with people about how the officiating biased and they would refuse to debate it, instead begging for me to be banned.

That is not the place to talk about football, "sporting events" section or not

Re: We all Need to Email the League, Here's a letter.....................

Pats is noble and we don't do what jet did. We defeat every NFL team because we are THE BEST and it has nothing to do with videotaping.

You know what you are doing and we don't need to revenge them by doing what they did.

We will crush them in this sun. That's all really matter.

The NFL won't say a word unless this is spun up in the media to no end.

I've lurked here for a while. But finally registered to share the message I sent to Roger Goodell (I found his email during the Mike Vick thing). I'm not going to share the email address because it would probably be against the rules to do so. Possibly PM me about it?

Here is my letter:

Commissioner Goodell,

I was just wondering when the Jets will be penalized their 2nd and 3rd
round picks for admitting to taping the New England Patriots last
year.

They have clearly broken a rule whether or not they had permission
from the Patriots or not. In the NFL's operations manual, it states
that "no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in
use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during
the game." Furthermore, all video shooting locations for coaching
purposes "must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead." They
admitted they were taping during a game with the Patriots and the
location they used is not listed under any of the allowed locations.

Here is a quote from Eric Mangini admitting to cheating (breaking a
rule) during multiple games:

"What we do every away game is tape our team from both end zones,
whenever it's possible. We always ask for permission to do that.
Usually it's granted, provided there is a physical space to do that,
it's to get the same angle you get in practice. Anybody that asks us
to do it, we extend the same courtesy. It's pretty common, one way or
the other, depending on how teams like to like at their game tape.
That's really what it was."

When the Patriots were penalized it was a 1st round pick if they made
the playoffs and 2nd and 3rd round pick if they didn't. The Patriots
and Mr. Belichick were also fined a substantial amount of money. Being
that the Jets broke this rule during the playoffs I feel their penalty
should be stronger than a 2nd and 3rd round pick (they clearly aren't
making the playoffs).

I begin to speculate if they broke this rule in a playoff game last
year they probably did the same thing throughout the year which would
help to explain their strong performance last year followed by their
pathetic performance this year when more focus was placed on the rule.

My family and I have been strong NFL supporters for quite some time
spending money on tickets, television, and merchandising. I hope you
don't make my family regret their support for your league by showing
us different teams play by different rules.

If and when no fine or penalty is levied I would appreciate and
explanation for why the Jets and Patriots are subject to different
interpretations of the rules, so I can reconsider my position as a NFL
fan.

Thanks for your time,

here is a revised one from wut the first one was...

Dear NFL,

When may I expect your announcement that the New York Jets will be penalized their 2nd and 3rd round picks, as well as being fined $250,000 for the club, and their coach being fined $500,000?

I recall earlier this year that the New England Patriots were penalized because they were caught video taping an opposing coach’s signals. Specifically, if the ruling was that if they made the playoffs, the Patriots would lose a 1st round pick, if they did not, they would lose a 2nd and 3rd. They were also fined to the amount of $750,000.

Since in recent events the Jet’s coach admitted to taping the Patriots and other teams, it only makes sense they would be punished in the same way and manner. It is widespread knowledge the Jets will not be making the playoffs, so they would be losing the 2nd and 3rd round picks.

The Jet’s coach also mentioned that the Jets had “permission” to tape such signals from other teams. “Permission” has nothing to do in this case, the act was admitted, that is all that matters. The Jets have violated the same league rule as the Patriots had, and therefore must be punished equally.

If that is not the case, I would expect a very elaborate explanation as to why.

I am a dedicated NFL fan, spending countless hours watching your product and having spent a good amount of money on NFL merchandise and the NFL network especially. If nothing is done about this, it will start looking like different teams have different rules they are expected to follow.

Thank you for your time,

I have the phone number for his office. I just called to confirm it and his secretary picked up, "Commissioner Goodell's Office". Does anyone have the stones to call?
