Thanks for posting this.

I would note that most teams probably have an additionzl $3M available that they can borrow from the future to allocate to veterans.

Not sure many teams have taken advantage of that $3M for a couple of reasons, including predictions of a fairly flat cap through 2013. That $3M also wasn't available for just any signing, it was limited to application to just 3 certain types of contracts over a particular threshold amount and once applied if the player in question was lost due to injury or being cut the "exemption" went with him....It was intended to save veterans from being cap casualties, not to allow for signing more back end of the roster types. Teams had to notify the league of their desire to utilize one of the exemptions in writing. Nothing I know of has leaked to date about which teams used one or more exemptions or on whom. We may not know that until odd adjustments begin to be make years down the road when the deduction will be deducted from future caps.

Any idea what's up with Miguel?

Seems like way more than enough cap space than needed for injury replacements, so hopefully in the bye week we can sign the white warrior of touchdown goodness, Wes Welker, to a long-term deal.

I'd think that we could move some of the signing bonus onto this season's cap, which I assume is possible (basically the extension taking effect imediately and tearing up the deal for the remainder of this season).

Time to lock him up!

He's taking a mental health day from work. He's letting the priorities of work & family interfere with Patriots football, the slacker.
