I've always had a good deal of respect for Holt as an NFL player. Was excited when the Pats signed him and disappointed when he went on IR.
Saw him play live once and he was electrifying. Caught a relatively short pass and just absolutely torched John Lynch and the rest of the Tampa Bay defense at a critical time in the fourth quarter, out running them for about a 70 or 80 yard touchdown.
That was the game when right after that play Tampa Bay was down and out, three or four minutes left, and Warrick Dunn was about to get tackled on third and long. Pitched it back to Shaun King and he somehow runs for a first down, plus they get a 15-yard penalty for a late hit.
Bucs did not go on to win the Super Bowl that year - the Pats did - but they did win it all a year later. But from that game on the Greatest Show on Turf was no longer an immortal opponent; the Pats beat them in the Super Bowl a year later.
Funny thing is the guy I was with was elbowing me to say 'let's go, this game is over, let's beat the crowd' right after the Holt catch.
Yeah, I know that has little or nothing to do with Pats history.
Just something to consider for those that assume that the Pats have already won - or lost - the next game, whether that is next week, or ten years from now.
