Practice observations: The offense bounces back
Posted by John Tomase at 6:50 pm
After being plagued by the dropsies yesterday, the offense looked a lot more in sync today, with tight end Ben Watson making a number of tough catches (5, by one reporter’s count) in traffic and Wes Welker reversing the opening day jitters that had plagued him on Saturday by doing his typical yeoman’s work underneath.
Rookie linebacker Jerod Mayo once again ran with the first defense and showed his feisty side by landing smack dab in the middle of a scuffle that had the fans cheering in approval like middle schoolers waiting to watch a fight. It’s tough to see who Mayo was jawing with, because other players quickly stepped in, but there was a lot of shouting.
