There has been an unprecedented number of Charger fans here this week. Most have been obnoxious trolls unable to comprehend facts. A few have been classy reasonable fans here to talk football. Because of this never before seen interruption on our board, this game has been over-argued on every angle. So I guess I'm gonna skip over the battle threads until the game tomorrow. Enough is enough.

Actually, I'd say most have been classy, reasonable fans. I'm actually surprised by the amount who came just to talk football, and really there's been alot of agreement on both sides of the issue, except when it comes to the rabid PATRIOTS WILL WIN and CHARGERS WILL WIN fans, who are ignored by the majority anyways.

Yeah, most have been reasonable. The initial flood contained several bozos, a couple of which have stuck around unfortunately, but the Chargers fans made an effort to self police the more obnoxious in their ranks.

If they win the game, it will justify much of what the relatively rational ones have said. Go Pats! :D

I still dislike the Miami and jet fans the most at this board. And I can't stand a handful of our own posters, who are shaky every week, yet feel the need to start a lot of threads.

It all evens out in the end as far as their fans versus our fans.

But I'll be the first to tell their obnoxious fans to go away.

There have been some Charger fans who aren't too bad, but they are few and far between. Most of the people on this site over the week have been little kids coming over to start trouble and troll the forums.

Actually, there have been many bannings so far this week. I'm not sure that it's been "self-policing" by the Charger fans at all.

Yeah, is that a stupid feud built for ratings and media, or what!;)
No, I will read other threads, but not the battle threads with the trolls.

I didn't check your board until yesterday, but it seems to me that both on our board and yours, there has been very little of the smack talking homerism which usually arises and there has been much more reasonable football postings from visitors.

Bottom line is we both have good teams. We both have valid reasons to think our teams are going to win. I really think that tomorrow will be the real AFC Championship game.

Whoever wins, please beat the Colts!

Amen to that. I also hope whoever wins tomorrow beats the Colts. If the Colts ever actually made it to a Super Bowl, the 400 Manning commercials would just morph into...........every TV program being all-Manning all the time.

I'd be willing to bet that there are more charger fans visiting our site then there are pats fans visiting charger sites. That's obviously because we don't feel the need in general to trash talk other teams in their websites. I personally think that that shows more confidence from us and a lot more insecurities on their end. They know that we have had three superbowl wins and they have none. That's why they feel compelled to come here because they are more apprehensive about the Pats then we are of the Bolts. Not to say that our team will win hands down, but from a mental perspective, there is no question that our team and our fans have a lot more confidence about ourselves than many charger fans feel about their own team. Sorry if i'm stating the obvious.

Good points. Reminds me of the saying about scoring TD's - - "Act like you've been there before".

Actually, there are quite a number of Pats fans on our boards.

I only started going to other boards this year as football has taken on a bigger meaning for me. I rarely post because the rampant homerism on most boards does nothing for me. I posted here because the majority of the folks posting here seemed to be knowledgable and offer decent points.

Football is a game, and by definition, should be fun. I am happy to share opinions with any sane person. It is all part of the fun. And this last year has turned me from a so-so Chargers fan to a much bigger Chargers fan, but also a fan of the league as a whole and all teams (well, almost all teams).

Interesting point. I have found that as I grow older, I tend to root for teams more based on their behavior and ownership than on their flash.

    I can't root for T.O. And I can't root for Dan Snyder's Redskins.

I can't root for Ray Lewis. And I can't root for the Irsay Colts (I now live too close to Baltimore, but even if I didn't, what that ownership did to that fanbase is unforgivable - and to keep the name - there's no major horse racing in Indiana - it's like the LA Lakers or Utah Jazz - just another example of a corporate insult to the public).

I can't root for any team with Bill Polian as GM.

I can't root for the Detroit Lions who are continuing to defecate on their fanbase with their support of Matt Millen. They are actively insulting their fans. Another good reason not to buy a Ford.

I do root for LT (except for tomorrow). I can't root for Jerry Jones' Cowboys

I root for Jefferie Lurie's Eagles. I can't root for Al Davis' Raiders.

    ________-

As I grow older, I find my loyalty to the New England Patriots is not centered on the superficial fact that they have the name of my native region. When I was younger, I guess that's all I needed. But I see life differently now.

I love this team because of the class and decency of so many in that organization. The QB, so many of the players. They act differently than so much of the league. I am uncomfortable with the frequent behavior of the HC. I discount the personal rumors until they are proven or disproven, so I won't even get into that. The ownership is second to none in it's philanthropy and contributions to the region and its fanbase. I challenge anybody to name any other major league stadium built in the U.S. in the past 10 years with a higher percentage of private funds from the owner.

I guess the Patriots mean more to me than simply a "cool team" with "cool unis". They stand for something in my eyes.

Other teams and players do, too. And I salute them.

Yes, there are teams with which I have problems. Any team with TO. The Raiders (I was born in Oakland, but the switching back and forth and the obnoxious fans has distanced me.) The Colts (leaving in the dead of night).

I do like the Saints, the Pats, the Packers, the Steelers, The Seahawks, and Denver (most Chargers fans hate the Broncos, but my family all lives around Denver.)

But I spent my last year in Iraq, and watching the NFL is a communal thing there. And since you have to watch whatever game is beamed in, I got to know more about other teams and began to apreciate the league as a whole.

But you are right about classy. I guess the Pats are about the tops in class. LT may be the classiest player both on and off the field, but the Pats are a true class team.

I really, really hope the Bolts win tomorrow, and I think they will. It has been along time coming. But if the Pats win, so be it, and then win again next week.

There may be quite a number but still less than the number of charger fans coming here willing to start a trash talk session. We've done it before as shmessy said, so there's no need for most of us to talk trash. We believe in our team and we feel our destiny lies with how well we play, not how well the other team plays.

Well said. I am with you on that sentiment completely. I wouldn't want T.O. on the Patriots even if we were desperate for any good WR and he was totally available. I'd like to reiterate the LT thing to. I can't root for him tomorrow, however, I semi-root for him otherwise. A guy that talented who gives it all and doesn't act like a fool? How can you not root for him (at least a little).
