I love everything about the draft, even the sound effect. All the preparation, all the analysis, all the hopes and dreams are alive in the moment between when the pick is in and when Goodell steps up and says:
  • "The 32nd pick has been traded" <-- Why did I stay up all night?
  • "With the 32nd pick the New England Patriots select Justin Layne, CB, Michigan State" <-- no offense to Layne, insert your own unheralded player

4 more sleeps

You mean four sleepless nights.

Although actually true for me as I work nights.

I do try to think of worst possible scenarios but first round CB would be devastating.

I will be so happy if we could trade #32 for a 2020#1 and a lower pick this year. Then we'd still have 12 picks to start trading up or for veterans.

How about losing one of your 3rd-rounders to draft one 45th overall?

Joejuan was one I considered an exception because he’s so unique. And it was our second pick, not the first. And we always knew at least one of our picks would be traded.

It's all about matchups. Williams adds a unique skillset that we haven't had so far and a TE at 97/101 wasn't going to add any more additional value that a big, physical corner who can take away TEs and big WRs pushing our secondary and defense to a different level.
