Lets hope this is all we passed the torch to the Jets for.

Hate was fueled by jealousy. Usually, the most hated team and most successful team are one and the same.
It is weird, isn't it?I hope the Pats remain the most hated. I wore that a badge of honor. Hate was fueled by jealousy. Usually, the most hated team and most successful team are one and the same.
Oh, sure. Most fans would love to have their team be 7-7 and tanking and then have two teams lay down for them so they could go 9-7.Much of it can be attributed to fan envy. With few exceptions, loyalists would love for their teams to deliver as the Jets do.
The Jets are not remotely close to being the most hated team in the NFL.
That honor, or dishonor, is still currently held by the Pats.
It's the Dallas Cowboys effect. Win 3 championships and you suddenly have a target on your back and everybody hates you. I don't seem to remember the 49ers being hated though. Weird.

the niners were before the 24/7 media days, Walsh was kind of a father/uncle figure and everybody loved Joe...
Replaced what?
The Patriots were not hated until 2003 and beyond. The second they dominated, people hated. The Patriots hate ultimately came from the respect people had at the same time. The Jets are hated because their like the loud mouth kid on the playground who's never won a fight but talks like he has. Big difference IMO.
But seriously... they're the Jets. Every April the NY fan base says they are Superbowl favorites. Yawn. But we all know they won't sniff the playoffs for another 4 years.
