Then again, its not like all these picks we had this year would make the team, so why not flip picks this year in a weak class for picks next year when there might be more roster spots.

Keenan Lewis. Nice pick for the Steelers IMHO.

The Asante Samuel pick.

I bet we get a guy with dreads.

Pats on the clock for the 97 pick; then we have to wait a lot since end 5th round

From Twitter:

The Patriots have selected Tyrone McKenzie, OLB, South Florida

YEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Great pick for Arizona with Johnson from Bama.

Agree nice pick and fit....maybe a steel at this point but we will see. Pair this guy with Wilson on the backend.

I think Tate makes the 53 and he'll be contributing right away on special teams. He has special kick return abilities. If healthy he will be playing. If Tate didn't tear up his knee and fail the drug test there's no way he lasts till round 3. Arguably he is as talented as Hakeem Nicks who was on the same team and he was having a better year as well until the injury. The Pats are incredibly stacked at WR now. Our top 5 - Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis, Tate.

Tyron McKenzie OLB from South Florida

good !

There's that OLB. Get him on the Crable track.

Does he have dreads?

McKenize? Are you kidding me? The rest of the picks don't matter, this draft is over, full of win for the Pats!

This draft is full of win! I love the pick.

Exactly... take the value players later in the draft - if you find a diamond in the rough, keep him - otherwise its cuts or practice squad.

No sense in using 3rd rounders for the same types of players

At the end of the day BB understands one's taking chances on all the guys - draft just enough to find some keepers and turn the others into higher value next year.

It's a linebacker. The lynch mob can go home now.

This Draft just became an A.

McKenzie's going to be our SILB.

Where's Box when you need him? :D

Todd McSay has some nice words

He said he is impressed with our draft. He stressed the versatility of the players.

And the cap management, wow, the Patriots are way ahead of the curve. Don't sell ESPN short just because Tom Jackson has not been kind to the franchise at times in the past.

Strengths:
Excellent athleticism...Terrific speed and quickness with a burst to close...Outstanding sideline-to-sideline range...Nice instincts and awareness...Reliable tackler...Smooth and is able to match up in coverage...Comfortable in space...Active with a good motor...Great football IQ...Offers some versatility...Special teams potential...Good work ethic...Durable with a lot of experience...Impressive production.

Weaknesses:
Just average size and bulk...Can be too aggressive at times...Not very strong or physical...Isn't a big hitter...Has some trouble getting off blocks...Doesn't fill hard against the run...Average hands and ball skills...Uses sub par leverage...Is not much of a pass rusher or blitzer...Definitely isn't a thumper...Bounced around to three colleges.

Notes:
Nearly saw his football career come to an end as a junior in high school when he suffered a severely fractured leg, which required the insertion of a titanium rod to repair...Began his college career at Michigan St. in 2004...Transferred to Iowa St. and sat out the 2005 season...Started all 12 games at middle linebacker for the Cyclones and was named 2nd Team All-Big 12 in 2006...Opted to transfer yet again but was granted an NCAA hardship waiver and allowed to play without sitting for a year because his mother was sick...Was 2nd Team All-Big East in 2007 and earned 1st Team honors in 2008...Could project outside or inside at the next level depending on the scheme...Has a fantastic blend of physical tools and production and should test well in workouts...Won't be an ideal fit for everyone but should draw plenty of interest from teams willing to sacrifice size in exchange for speed and athleticism.
