Steelers and the two point conversation

If only the Pats had taken a FG in that spot. :(
I can absolutely understand why they did it. They had so much trouble moving the ball who would have thought they'd move right down there again so quickly?

you're thinking of an earlier play on 4th and 6 at 2:25 in the 4th quarter that talib was holding on:

here's the 2-pt play:

On the 2 pt, nobody looks particularly "open" and Brady threw it where no Patriots were. IMO.

yes--the reason the patriots were able to get the ball back with good field position was that the broncos had to start from their own 14 after the failed 4th down conversion. they went 3-and-out, punted to the NE 34, and JE returned it to the 50 with 2:04 left.

assume the patriots made the FG instead. they would have done the onside kick, which would have probably failed, so the broncos would have had the ball around the 50. even if they had gone 3-and-out on the same timeline, they would have probably been able to pin the patriots at the NE 20 or worse. so the patriots would have had to march 80+ yards in 2:04 instead of the 50 yards they did--no easy task against that denver defense. the only other touchdown the patriots scored was on a short field from the DEN 22 after manning fumbled.
