Did we just witness the worst drive in NFL history tonight?

First: JAX punts from their 9 to the JAX 49; BAL returns the punt to JAX 45. Then Flacco takes over, and it goes downhill from there:

1-10 JAX 45: Flacco to Pitta for -5 yards.
2-15 50: Flacco to Rice for zero yards. Offensive Holding on Oher for -10 yards.
2-25 BAL 40: Flacco to Rice, incomplete.
3-25 BAL 40: Flacco runs for 14 yards. Offensive Holding on Oher for -10 yards.
3-35 BAL 30: Flacco pass to Flacco(!) for -8 yards (batted ball).
    4-43 BAL 22: Koch punts.

Technically, a pick six is worse, but they definitely get style points for just being comically, thoroughly inept.

Flacco to Flacco was absolutely hilarious. Do quarterbacks have some instinct to catch that ball? Why don't they just knock it to the ground?

    He thought he was open?

QBs must look up at the ball thinking, "If I catch this, I've got nothing but wide open field in front of me." They catch the ball, bring their heads down to see the onrushing D and go, "ohhhhhh shhhhhhh********tttt."

    Regards,
    Chris

I dont know, Rivers and the chargers last min drive may have it beat. I have never saw a pro qb throw a ball out of bounds on purpose on 4th down with no time left, and he def. threw that ball away. I mean at least throw it in the middle of the field and pray.

    No Jersey Selected

That is one hilarious drive, Murphy's Law at it's finest. Flacco to Flacco was especially funny.

I couldn't tell with surity but didn't there look to be a lot of empty seats last nite?' I know Jacksonville is having problems but having the Raven come in was considered a marquee game

The Ravens for Jet-ti-ized... they couldn't do squat on offense. I feel asleep before half-time honestly.

This game offers more proof how flawed a metric QB rating is. After the batted ball, Flacco was 5-for-12 for 2 yards. His QB rating was still 49.3, mainly on the strength of having thrown zero interceptions. (Had the Raven held onto the ball for an INT, Flacco's rating would have dropped closer to where it deserves to be 7.6. :D )

I don't know, throw in any of the tapes from the '90 or '92 Patriots and I seem to recall alot of backwards moving offense from Zolak, Wilson, Hodson, et al....

I have vague memories of a game from the late 60s/early 70s in which the Pats had the ball 1st and goal, and after a series of penalties and sacks were pushed back so far that they ended up punting from their own side of the field on 4th down.

As for this weekend's game, I think I would go with San Diego's drive being even worse than the Ravens' drive was.

The Jags and Ravens combine for 101 yards of total offense in the first half last night, which was 2 yards more than that one Welker catch against the Dolphins.

I was trying to follow this game on CBS Game Center and was convinced that it was broken at times. I think watching it might have actually been worse.

That's two Monday nights in a row of execrable football.

looked like he was competing with Rivers for worst 2 minute drill in NFL history, 1 incompletion and 1 interception, lmao.

Rivers throwing the ball out of bounds on 4 n 3 followed by pointing and yelling towards the sideline looking for a scapegoat was priceless.

Why is it that offensive shootouts that come down to the wire are good games but defensive slug-fests that come down to the final drive are bad games?

Just curious. Because from a defensive standpoint I found the game entertaining in it's own right. It was damn fun to see the Ravens offense made to look so foolish.

Gotta go with Irving Fryar leaving at half time with an injury and driving into a telephone pole.:bricks:
