Seahawks expected to release Red Bryant

Who needs Red Bryant when we've got Jake Bequette waiting in the wings. Unleash the beast.

For real, people don't want him because the Pats would have to part with Chris Jones, Armond Armstead or Sealver Siliga? Hell, why not throw in Joe Vellano, too?

I'm sure BB will make a call to Bryan'ts agent. There is definitely a need on the d-line and with the high interest NE showed a few years ago, I'd expect about the same in 2014. You just can't have enough linemen. Obviously cost has to be taken into account but it doesn't preclude NE from inquiring, I think.

I don't think Vellano will be back with the team next season. DT situation could look something like Wilfork/Kelly, FA (Art Jones/Red Bryant?), Siliga, Armstead, Jones

Agree, but I'd be surprised if the Pats don't draft a DT.

If they sign someone like Bryant or Jones, they won't be drafting anything but a low round DT.

It also depends on what they work out with Kelly and Wilfork. But say they bring everyone back plus a FA DT.

Bryant, Wilfork, Kelly, Siliga, with a low round pick fighting for a roster spot with Jones and Armstead. If they sign a Bryant or a Jones, I don't see the value in using a higher pick on a DT.

DE or S or CB (if no Talib) or WR or TE seem much more likely.

I'm in favor of adding talent to the DL, so Bryant would fit that bill to me. I like that he's coming off a championship year, so he has that pedigree that's hard to evaluate. All in all though, he's one of many options out there, so as long as we bring in one of them I'm happy.

And signing him doesn't mean we can't draft one too. Between Wilfork and Kelly's injuries and the uncertainty that comes with any young player, there are spots to be won on that DL, for the right player.

Agreed if they bring in a FA DT I don't see it as a huge need. I think they should do that and go G, TE, LB, S/CB in the draft.

1. Trade 29 for #36 and #100
2a. Xavier Su'a-Filo with #36
2b. ASJ with #61
3. Stanley Jean-Baptiste with #93
4a. Christian Jones with #100
4b. Antone Exum with #125
6a. Bryan Stork if he is there still/WR like Coleman or Janis if not
6b. Grimble/AC Leonard
7. DAT/Logan Thomas

Let them battle out for final 53. But would like something like this:

QB: Brady, Mallet
HB: Ridley, Vereen, Blount, Bolden
FB: Develin
WR: Dobson, Edelman, Amendola, Boyce, Thompkins, Slater
TE: Gronk, ASJ, Harrison, Logan Thomas, Hooman
OT: Solder, Vollmer, Svitek, Cannon
OG:Mankins, Su'a-Filo, Connolly
OC: Stork (Connolly starting if he is not ready)

DE: Chandler, Nink, Buchannan, Griffin (Art Jones, Armstead, and Hightower could all play 4-3 end)
DT: Wilfork/Kelly, Art Jones/Bryant, Siilga, Chris Jones, Armstead
LB: Hightower, Mayo, Collins, Fletcher, Christian Jones, Beauharnais
CB: Talib, Dennard, Ryan, SJB, Arrington
S: McCourty, Gregory, Harmon, Exum, Ebner

K: Gost
P: Allen

The real question is whether they will cut Danny Amendola so they can sign Red Bryant?

there should be a thread on it any second now.

Sigh! Miguel is SO 20th century. He fails to understand that "the cap is crap" and that you can blithely cut high cap accelerating players and create cap room to sign FAs. Sorta like anti-matter or negative energy in physics.

The Pats need to be all over this. Bryant can line up on the nose or at DE in a 43 and is proficient while one and two gapping. This should make Wilfork expendable, IMO. Dump his salary and bring Bryant in. Have to think that we'll be the frontrunners for him after flirting with him two years ago. My lord this FA period is deep along the DL. As for Seattle, this is the first of many issues the salary cap will bring. Hope they stay as good at drafting as they have been because Wilson and Sherman will be coming up soon.

I think Bequette and Tavon Wilson are going to light up the NFL this year. Belichick has simply been toying with the competition by making Wilson a special teams specialist drafted in the second round... luring them in. This will be the year that Wilson flashes that true second round value.

I'm expecting at least 10 interceptions this year... for Bequette. You don't even want to KNOW how many Tavon's gonna get!

I really hope we can get him signed!!!!! There is no doubt he will make us better on the defensive front. If we can restructure Wilfork, I would like to bring him back. I think you can never have too many defensive lineman.

I have Tavon setting all kinds of records this year. I think he's going to make everyone forget about Ronnie Lott, much less Rodney. He's THAT good. As for Bequette, that monster just needed to refine his skills on the bench (and by that, I meant doing battle with OL without killing any of them) before that beast was unleashed on the NFL.

Wilfork is on the wrong side of 30, looks to be at least pushing 400 pounds, and has an Achilles injury (an injury devastating for anyone, let alone a NT). He may not be back, sadly.

Sorry, my bad. I'll stop saying that. :(
Thank you. Now get off my lawn

Miguel has started 40 threads and made 4,000,000 posts about cutting Danny Amendola?

When the Pats sign FAs, they almost always sign underutilized or solid guys from inferior teams.

Bryant doesn't really match that criteria.

Seattle always drafts well. They will be all over Rasheed hageman at 32.
