I had to assume that ESPN has some type of financial interest in this book.

I can't see them as simply being benevolent to one of their employees and get nothing in return, to provide so much very valuable free air time on so many shows promoting the book.

Perhaps a movie deal further down the road?

More likely Simon & Schuster is paying a pretty penny out of their marketing budget to ESPN/Disney for all that promotion of their newly published book.
