Quite the compliment for a former teammate who left for money, also considering the fact Champ Bailey will be on the field tonight.

Overpaid system CB, one of if not the best in the league, or somewhere in the middle?

    Second best in the league.

    Our secondary is garbage now.

The best CB in the NFL plays for the Raiders.

Too early to tell where he stands. Needs to at least play out the season. Has played pretty well so far.

There aren't many that have had substantial success after leaving the Pats for bigger $$ in the Belichick era.

No doubt. Asomougha really looks like a beast out there - great size and speed. He's one CB I would fork over a lot of $$ for.

No offense to Rodney, I still think Asante is overrated and every time I've seen him play this season he's gotten beat. His defensive metrics were average with the Patriots, in some instances, not much better (or even worse) than his much maligned counterpart on the other side of the field, I'll be interested to see how he fares at the end of a season in Philly.

He might have also said this last December, but the quote was presented by Suzy Kolber as recent.

I kind of agree with others that he is not..he'll have to show a lot more than he has with Phillie to make that statement true...

Samuel isn't the best CB in the league. He is good, but overrated. I heard someone say it best on the radio this morning (surprisingly I think it was Mike Golic) that the best CBs are the guys you don't hear their names a lot in a given game. Guys like Nnamdi Asomugha and Champ Bailey are so good that they don't get a lot of INTs because people are afraid of throwing in their direction. That may have been the case for Samuel his last year here, but that isn't the case in Philly right now.

I don't know if Hobbs has been that much of a downgrade from him this year. O'Neil is a pretty sizable downgrade from either one (at least depending on the week). Samuel had big play ability here, but he was still known to give up the big play.

It would have been nice to keep Samuel here, but he is showing so far that he isn't worth the money he got paid.

Who? Please don't say D-Hall, he's the most over rated player in the game.

The best CB in the league missed a INT that would have ended Super Bowl 42.

And one of the best D-Line's in football failed to sack Eli Manning.

And one of the hardest hitting safeties of all-time was on the wrong end of a miracle helmet catch.

An overall defensive failure, I'll never put it strictly on Asante.

the raiders should have the best pass D in the league if there not throwing to Asomugha. Cause Hall is gonna keep making plays he read Farve like a book last night. I wish we still had Asante.

Yea, I'm not arguing any of that.

What I'm saying is, he should have caught the damn ball. That's it.

You want to be the best? Play the best. He called himself out after the game in the press confrence, but that does not make me feel any better.

I won't put the loss on Asante as that is really unfair of teh other things that could have been done, but on teh other hand, players getting the big bucks like that SHOULD make the big plays and that one sailed through his hands.
