That is really amazing when you figure how many young players we have and how many back ups we have playing significant time. Props to the coaches for being good teachers and props to the players for their concentration.

Agreed that it is a testament to the coaching staff. It just seems that the Pats never take the bad penalty that kills so many other teams (excluding the Dave Thomas play). Things like running into the kicker, fair catch interference, etc. seem to derail other teams much more frequently than it does the Pats.

Team has played very disciplined all year. How bad does Thomas what that 15 yarder back right about now?

I think the one on Vrabel in the second Jets game ranks right up there as well in the "bogus" category. Even with the low number of penalties against the Pats this year, at least a few of them have been killers.

The only team that doesn't get killer penalties is the Indianapolis Mannings. I mean, they managed to go an entire season without committing defensive pass interference even once.

why would a team accept a penalty if they continually complete the pass and gain the yardage for a first down?

I am not sure what you are getting at?

Penalties can be on both sides of the ball if you are trying to say our number is small becuase our de doesn't stop anyone plus the number of comitted is pretty small too only about 10 or so more than the accepted.

He means our defence gets penalties on plays when the offence gets a first down, the penalty will not be accepted. Our defence has given up a lot of first downs, so there will be fewer accepted penalties against them.

hit the nail on the head. and pentalties are timing too. let's say we get a first down and they commit a penalty against us and we decline it.

i will say the early part of the season was spectacular in terms of penalties and not committing them. lately they seem to be at inopportune times such as dave thomas and the colts and mike vrabel and the jets.

those are two season changing penalties

But the number of charged penalties wasn't that much more than the number of accepted penalties so that really isn't the case. Just discipline.

Great coaching = more discipline and fewer penalties unless your GM is Polian.

Yeah, great coaching and disciplne reduce penalties.

But are we so disciplined to not make them that we're playing a less aggressive D?

I would rather see a few more PI's, offsides, and illegal contact flags if it means our D is playing some hard nosed, smashmouth, "you're gonna earn every inch with pain" football.
