Possible trial balloon leak...4 game missed pay for Brady instead of suspension?

Ordinarily, it would be a good financial decision for Brady to accept a cash penalty rather than try to litigate it away; surely a court case would consume more legal fees than any amount he could realistically be fined for. However:

1. His reputation has high value to him (whether or not we hypothesize an actual court case for defamation).
2. The NFLPA might help pay the legal bills.

But in a further twist, let's hypothesize that:
  • The situation is resolved with a fine.
  • Brady then goes on a talk show tour and vehemently denies cheating, while claiming he was railroaded.
What happens then to Brady's reputation among sports fans and media? What happens to Goodell's reputation?

This POS on 98.5 is saying Brady's rep is already damaged & can't repair it. Consequently he should just "take the bullet"...good Christ....

Speculation from PFT. I bet this idea is being floated by the league as a compromise.

I'm ok with this kind of fine for the non cooperation thing but the NFL MUST say that cheating did not occur otherwise it's off to court.

Volin's BS probably came from South Florida. Nobody in New England would talk to him.

Ben Volin's Journalism Methodology:

1. Type query into www.google.com
2. Click "I'm Feeling Lucky!"
3. Utilize 100% of single-digit IQ to read resulting web page
4. Form totally unsubstantiated opinion
5. ???
6. Tweet it!

Unacceptable.

The agreement to accept any punishment (suspension or fine) is an admission of guilt. Seeing as how the NFL has no proof, and the fact that Brady is not guilty of any wrongdoing, either the NFL drops all penalties or we see you in federal court Roger

Totally agree - 4 game salary fine is utterly ridiculous!

The majority of M.C.I. Volin's family members are concerned about his bed wetting tendencies and want him to seek help for it.

See how easy that was for me to write?

ANYONE can be a Boston Globe sportswriter!

.

I wonder if Volin ever hit up Welker for a couple of Depend's sample boxes.

Who? Mazz? Those two have been trolling to the extreme in recent months.
Felger is a troll no doubt, but I think Mazz is actually as dumb as he sounds.

Evidently smc0822 is a member of Ben (MCI) Volin's family.

Impossible to know what Brady's thinking, but I imagine he's looking for complete exoneration on the underlying charge. I could conceive of the idea that he'd be ready to accept a fine for some trumped up version of a non-cooperation charge, but then I don't see how that could exceed the CBA limit of $250.

Whatever the validity of this particular rumor, it suggests to me that the League knows it has a problem and is trying to find a way out.

In the end, as I've said out here often, I'll support whatever Brady decides it is in his best interests to do.

Reality.
I went from a sports talk radio addict to cold turkey. Nada.
I now know I can do the same for the NFL if "stings" and "one time ever rule penalties" against the Patriots continue.
I feel they will. :(
