Ex-Titan RB Jamie Harper worked out for the Patriots and Giants this week.

Tennessee Titans: Jamie Harper

PRO: Jamie Harper is 235-pound running back that carries the ball with power, but also possesses surprising quickness for a player his size. The 2011 fourth-round pick saw action as a reserve in 13 games as a rookie and carried the ball 17 times for 44 yards and a touchdown. Harper was an effective receiver out of the backfield in college and excelled in the screen game. He caught four passes for 32 yards with the Titans in 2011. In his second season, he will compete for playing time on special teams and will serve as a complementary runner to All-Pro Chris Johnson.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• As a rookie in 2011, Harper played in 13 games as a reserve and rushed the ball 17 times for 44 yards with a touchdown. He scored his first career touchdown on a one-yard plunge against Jacksonville (12/24/11).

TITANS TIDBITS:
• Harper went back to school at Clemson during the 2012 offseason as he works toward his degree in Communications. He has just eight hours of classes remaining before graduation.
• Harper has started a foundation called Forever 17 that aims to help underpriviledged youth. The foundation is named after Harper’s roommate at Clemson, Stanley Hunter, who was diagnosed with Epilepsy and is unable to play football anymore. Hunter wore the number 17.
• Harper lists his father James, who works for a towing company in Jacksonville, as one of the most inspirational people in his life. James raised Jamie and his three brothers after their mother Dietria passed away from lung cancer when Jamie was just nine years old.
• Before entering the NFL, Harper had never owned a vehicle before. While in college, if he couldn’t catch a ride somewhere, he’d get up and walk.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Jacksonville, Fla., native was selected by the Titans with their second pick in the fourth round (130th overall) the 2011 NFL Draft.
