This is starting to smack of panic on the Patriot's part.
Some might say, justifiably so, that the Pats prepared well and identified their targets in preparation for the opening of FA...and they would be right on the preparation. But....this would stretch even my extreme "in Beoli we trust" view to the breaking point if we were to give up a #2 for Welker. He is a nice player, but not worth a #2. As for hurting the Fish....who cares really...they will be buried in the basement anyway.
I would pee in this kool-aid and wouldn't even think of drinking it on this move if we give up a 2nd.
Eugene Wilson? Deion Branch? Matt Light? Kevin Faulk?
Welker is a nice player but I don't think he is worth a 2nd, especially with the good players who are likely to be available there in this draft.
To give up a second is huge, especially with the strength of this draft. This may be an indication that they are more than likely going to trade out of the #28 spot to get a second that they will have to give up in order to get Welker.
our second is more like a high 3rd, welker can run, great special teams, and can be your slot reciever i think its worth the pick hes provenhttp://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/
Wow would they really consider giving up a second round pick for Welker?
Is he worth that much?
I'm not under the impression that this is anything special as a draft. To give up a second is huge, especially with the strength of this draft.
We'd sign him to a long term contract and Miami would have to either match or let him go for a #2.If we got Welker would we just have to match Miami's tender of 1 year for 1.3 million?
I'd rather have Drew Bennett, Donte Stallworth, or Kevin Curtis.
I'd give a 2nd for the Wanker. BB is attracted to him, not because he's an attractive young boy but because he's versitile. And signing him hurts a division rival.

Dillon, and we traded for him.
I'd consider taking a guy whose proven he can play, is multi-role versitile and hurts your competitor.
