Off the top of my head I'd guess Buffalo 1990-1993, or whenever that streak of 4 straight Super Bowls was. Miami had a good run too in the early 70's but I don't think it lasted 4 years. I think it was one of those two; I'll say the Bills.

Patriots 2001-2005 was interrupted in 2002 by losing the division on the last game of the last day of the season, by a 3rd tie-breaker.

That specific run by Buffalo that have named is incorrect.
Buffalo won it in 88, 89, 90, 91 - 4 straight - but that's not the record.

well kick me in the balls and call me Deion.

Before 82 i wasn't alive so it looks like I won't be getting this one.

Or many of the other questions.

well - the reason why it's interesting is because if the pats win it this year,
they will have 4 straight....

Dolphins 81-85 5 years. I admit I looked this up - I know the Dolphins have one of the best all-time winning percentage in the NFL but I didn't remember them being so good in the 80's! I guess it goes to show we only remember Super Bowl winners.

exactly - so, if we can win this division this year, we'll be 1 away from the record !

I love it.

ok - next question - give the complete team names of the orignal afc east teams. (hint - there were 4 - and no looking it up!)

I would guess:

Boston Patriots
Baltimore Colts
New York Jets
and
Buffalo Bills

Edit: I looked it up after I posted and that's not right. (3 of the 4 are right.)

Oops - I guess I edited my "guess" post too fast - you're right, 2 are wrong. I will refrain from further posts on this question to give others a chance.

edit: I posted 2 fast again. Your question was what were the original teams in the AFC East, not the AFL East, right? According to pro-football-reference the AFC NFC conference alignment (with those names) came into existance in 1970, although we all know the leagues merged after the Jets beat the Colts in SBIII, which was in the 1968 season. There were FIVE teams in the AFC East that year.

If the question is what were the original teams in the AFL East, that's dfiferent.

speaking of winning the afc east, here's the impressive streaks:

bills won 4 in a row in the 60's.
phins won 4 in a row in the 70's.
phins won 5 oin a row in the 80's.
bills won 4 in a row in the late 80s, early 90's.

here's an incredible run by the phins:
they won 4 in a row, then lost the next 2, then they won 3 more in a row,
then they lost 1, then they won 5 more in a row.
so from 1971 thru 1985 - a period of 15 years, they won 12 division titles!!
(but only 2 world championships - which we've already eclipsed in 4 years)

Too late, I already looked it up, but did you see post #277?

did you see post 278? - I name an incredible run by the phins.

anyway - yes I meant AFL east - too bad you looked it up already!

got another one for you - wshen brett favre retires, who will be the active career passing yards leader?

Dan the Man Marino, unless Bret plays about 4 more years.

edit: I had Warren Moon in mind, but I think his total still falls short of Marino's 61000 yards.

2nd edit: I need to read your posts more carefully. When Bret Favre retires he will no longer be active, so I guess you meant who will THEN be the active passing yards leader? I guess Bledsoe?

yes!
imagine that?
bledsoe is currently 7th all-time and should pass testaverde and tarkenton this year and move into, gulp, 5th all time. one more good year after that, and he'd pass Moon and Elway into, yikes, 3rd all time - which begs the question, is he a hall of famer??? number 3 all-time??

he has 43,447 yards passing!

by the way the answer to that afl question was:
boston patriots
buffalo bills
new york titans
houston oilers

here's another - name the 3 former patriots quarterbacks in the top 50 all-time in passing....yes, bledsoe is one....

If it was the original AFL East,
Boston Patriots
Buffalo Bills
N.Y. Titans
Houston ......Colt 45.s????

IIRC the west is the confusing one with 3 of the teams flipping or moving after 1960.....

Grogan and Plunkett are the others, and Brady will soon join them.

i think the colt 45's was baseball.

it was the oilers, and they won the afc east the first 3 years.

correct!

#7-bledsoe 43,447
#44-grogan 26,886
#47-plunkett 25,882

here's another:
assuming curtis martin does not return with his 'bone on bone' knee condition, that would mean martin, bettis, and faulk - 3 top ten all-time rushers will have retired all in one year.
who will be the new 'active' career rushing leader?
