OBJ to Baltimore, deal worth up to 18 mill

Baltimore strikes again getting the name player nobody saw coming. They have been a graveyard for name players.

And guaranteed he will wear a black visor and all solid socks. All Ravens players look the same.

Really. Lets look at the last 3 years

2020: Agholor 56y/game, 10.9y/tgt | OBJ 45.6y/game, 7.4y/tgt only play 7 games
2021: Aghlor 31.5y/game 7.8y/tgt | OBJ 38.4y/game 6.5y/tgt
2022: Agholor 22.6y/game 6.8y/tgt | OBJ 0s across the board

Really outside of the 2021 playoffs its hard to say OBJ has outplayed Aghlor in the last 3 years
Very obvious cherry-picking of stats happening here.

My statement still stands - when OBJ was at his best, Agholor couldn't hold his jock.

Let's compare OBJ's 3 best seasons to Agholor's 3 best seasons:

OBJ:

15961591,45015.113876720
161011691,36713.510756521

Agholor:

16649773611.54832810
16488289618.78853700

Comparing their 3 best seasons, OBJ blows Agholor out of the water, and it ain't even close.

Really?? It's not hard to say Nelson StinksGalor stole money from the Patriots for count it two years. Saying StinksGalor outplayed OBJ I just threw up in my mouth.

Its not cherry picking
OBJ was 100% a better WR from 2014-2016 than Nelson Agholor has ever been.

Unfortunately since then things don't look so good for OBJ.

For example from 2017-2022 Nelson Agholor has
More yards 3598 vs 3245
More TDs 28 vs 21

Why would you pay $15m to a WR who hasn't been better than Nelson Agholor since 2016?o_O

Hot take - signing a veteran WR1 (maybe) level guy for their new rookie QB who they’ll acquire after they trade Lamar to Indy and then trade up to 3rd or 2nd overall.

How is he with jump balls ... Harbawl loves those.

If Lamar isn‘t on the team this season this signing could get ugly by the end of September.

so if OBJ signs for 15 million with 2 additional voidable years, the 15 million could be split over 3 years (e.g. only a 5 million cap hit this year) and then for 2024 and 2025, cap rollover money can be used to pay the remaining prorated portion of that bonus.
So, not as crippling as it may seem at first.
$15M/year for a WR1 is not seen as "crippling", the issue becomes when you spend $15M/year for a WR2 who coasts on his reputation.

Those $5M in 2024 and 2025 can cover some hits of some pretty good players.

Looking at our list ( New England Patriots 2023 Salary Cap ) you can see only 9 players on our roster have a cap hit above $5M.

Might work out great, but after he sat out the entire season, I'd be hesitant to guarantee him much money. ACL tear shouldn't have a guy out an entire season unless there' some kind of complications.

Stupid question. With this contract, do the Ravens have the cap space to sign Lamar long term.? I know they can 'manipulate' the cap to create the space but can they do so without creating a Rams, TB or Saints like situation where they were or currently are crippled by the cap for a few years due to dead money being pushed down the road ( e.g. Brady's dead money).Overthecap.com has them having $3 million in cap space and I've seen $6 million elsewhere but with what he is asking, they have to pull that mnoey from somewhere.

sign him long term? yes, they have the money... his cap hit under the franchise tag is already accounted for, so if they reach a long term agreement, they already have the space built in for this year, as long as its relatively similar in dollars

The tear happened in the Super Bowl in mid-February, so 12 months to normally heal and rehab from an ACL tear means OBJ missed all of 2022. Perfectly normal.

I'm not so sure it is, we saw Wes Welker tear his ACL in January and play in the pre season.

A few guys return in 9 months, A Peterson did too. But 12 months is the average return time.

Yes, isn't it terrible to be teams that win Super Bowls and then have a couple of years of cap problems.

How many teams would love to be in this situation.

If Lamar and OBJ can put BALT in serious Super Bowl competition for 2-4 years, then their fans would be very happy indeed.
