Nobody thought of Pancho Sanza, Don Quixote's follower and helpmate?

Thought of it, scratched my head, looked it up agin', and, whoops.

That's Sancho Panza.

I do like Garp, as in "The World According To..."

We're still in the honeymoon period with maybe-another-clipboard-holder, maybe-an-heir-apparent... but if he starts to truly suck, we can call him Janeane Garafolo.

Clearly others got there first on the Sancho/Pancho issue. D'Oh.

Sancho Panza?

With all due respect to the greatest quote machine hockey coach who ever lived, how about "Grapes"?

If only Jimmy G could take a page from Larry Izzo's sideline antics, a proper nickname would instantly appear.

To be honest though, I believe his nickname is yet to be determined. Something he'll do will help to define him down the road, in my opinion.

Yes...I can see it now ....THE WRATH OF "GRAPES"...o_O

Pancho (short for Francisco, or Frank) is so Latino that in Spain Latino immigrants are called "panchos" or "panchitos" (little panchos).
I think its popularity is related to the famous Pancho Villa, the man Mexicans feel proud of because "he was the first person to invade continental US".

I thought that's why they were proud of Columbus... and if he doesn't count, what about all those Brits that invaded the continental U.S. 2 different times?

Anyhoo... it's also just as likely that Jimmy got busted wearing one of these numbers on a rainy day in practice... or worse yet, a not-rainy day when it might rain...

Of course, if they want to give him a hard time, they could research his middle name and hope it's Andy or Aaron or something. Then they can call him JAG...

Then they can call him JAG...
That's just awful. So is "Pancho." d%#*!@t, the man's heritage is ITALIAN! How about Il Conquistatore ... Padrone ... Maestro ... Mostro ... Capo ... Anything but "jag" or "Pancho."

I guess there's always Garibaldi if you're getting all nationalist here...

Maybe Fiat?

Garapochino? But then if he marries a supermodel we have to say "hold the whipped" every time we talk about him...

Just plain old Garoppolo Quick Delivery, and let the pizza joke go unspoken?

British invasions are not explained in Mexican primary schools, just Pancho Villa (real name: José Doroteo Arango) and his revolutionary bandit-like army assaulting the U.S. By the way, Columbus never landed in continental U.S. or Mexico; Columbus remains a controversial figure for Mexicans in Mexico because he was a pioneer of the Spanish invasion of Mexico, and Pancho Villa led his raid (just a few hours) in Columbus, New Mexico.
Sorry for the off-topic.

and don't forget
Joaquin Murrieta

the mexican Robin Hood and father of La Rasa...
