Manning will be named MVP in the biggest travesty in award history

What is ironic about Peyton Manning winning the MVP is that it would be an insult to all the current Denver players who were on the team last year when Denver made the playoffs and won their first round game with Tebow, and more importantly, without Manning.

people are getting too whiny about this.......manning is having an MVP season and his team is battling the pats for playoff position......he is worth yof consideration and possibly the award itself....to deny that is to be a blind homer

Fixed.

We're all homers here.:)

Let the baby have his bottle, Brady and the Pats have bigger fish to fry.

Indeed. At the end of the Tebow run, people were demanding that the Broncos defense get props, and we were being forcefed a diet of "Tebow's not doing it alone!". This year, it's all Manning. Poor Peyton had to go to a team with all new personnel.

Meanwhile, Brady's had a new LT,LG,C,RG,TE (*3),WR (*2) for parts of the season, but we don't hear a peep about that.

People comparing brady's weapons with manning and his new system and team obviously ignored this when manning had all 1st round receivers and backs and TE's and brady played with reche caldwell and gaffeny for 1 season and went to the AFC champ game. Then the argument was manning didnt have a defense.Of course most of manning's playoff losses have come because the offense has crapped its bed.But we can ignore that.

Not only that but I LOVE it when Manning-fans(can't call them Colts fans, some of them jumped ship to Denver) complain about Manning not having a defense.

2005: ranked #2 in pts allowed, #11th in yds allowed
2007: ranked #1 in pts allowed, #2 in yds allowed
2008: ranked #7 in pts allowed, #11 in yds allowed

And guess who played poorly in all those playoff games? Actually if you want to take it a step further. I broke this down on another forum but Manning statistically is absolutely atrocious in the 4th quarter of playoff games.

"If" Manning wins the MVP, he'll know in his heart he doesn't deserve it. And so will everyone else.

I think if Manning won, calling it a "travesty" would be way over the top.

A better distribution of awards might be:

MVP - Brady
Comeback Player of the Year - Manning
Offensive Player of the Year - ADP

Not to mention they've pretty much changed to the offense that Manning's been running his entire career. It's the smart move on their part, but it isn't like Manning is learning a whole new system.

Let the media fawn all over Peyton, it'll make it that much better when he loses in the playoffs.

As I said earlier in the thread, the most disturbing thing about this to me is the one-sided nature of some of the Vegas odds, suggesting that the Houses have taken the pulse of the voters and determined that this is a sure thing. "Odds" are not about emotion, they're about cold, hard cash. Casinos don't like to be on the losing side of a big bet; witness how quickly the Pats spread went from -3 1/2 to nearly -6 points when it was reported that 55% of the money by Friday had been bet on New England over Houston.

I think that Brady, P. Manning and Peterson are all legitimate contenders for this award. As a Pats Fan, I look at the stats and circumstances and feel: "Hey, the award should go to Tommy." Reasonable people can disagree with that.

But for a "journalist" to indicate a month in advance where his/her vote is going so Vegas can make a book is bad; it would be great if an investigative reporter could "out" those voters, especially if any of them are laying down money on the outcome.

The funny thing is that the media is spinning the whole Denver/Manning thing into that they were a mediocre team that a playmaker like Tebow couldn't turn into more than an 8-8 team and that it was Manning who turned around the team. Funny, the whole way the Broncos won last year was the defense holding opponents to 10-13 points and Tebow playing like crap until the final drive in the end. The Broncos were an average QB last year from being a 10-6 or 11-5 team. Yet, the whole spin is it was all Manning.

Since they wanted to give Manning the MVP for not playing last year I expect them to award him the MVP, Comeback Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year this season.

Now that I think of it he should get Defensive Player of the Year as well.

Winning any substantial award in the year your children are born just make the events more meaningful. Brady wants the MVP, and the Superbowl. All players want recognition, teams want recognition, families want recognition.

In short: because if he was as valuable as Brady or Manning, then the Vikings wouldn't be 7-6.

I would rather have TFB win it yes... But if AP can run all over the Texans next week and hand them their 3rd loss, then he'll have my vote. :D

What's this, then?

They actually give an award, ostensibly to the most "valuable" Player in the league?

To one guy?

That's amusing.

I remember when the Pats were winning 3 Superbowls Colts fans throwing were throwing Manning's MVP in our faces. I can live with that again with another SB win.

That's not as far-fetched as it seems either. I heard on more than a few occasions last year that the Colts not only lost their best player but their "real" coach. So I imagine it won't be too long before Manning becomes the leading candidate for MVP and Coach Of The Year.

Denver's D last year gave up over 24 points a game. They had 5 games where they gave up 40 or more.

I know you're NE fans but give credit where credit is due, Manning came back from a serious injury....a missed season....to a new team.....which was in the bottom 3rd in both offense and defense.....and turned them into the 2nd best offense in the NFL.

Hate away, but those are facts.

IMO Brady, Manning, or even RG3 could win it.

Throwing it in your face lol? You guys are the most thin skinned fans on Earth. Everyone and everything is against you and everything is an insult to you.

Really, what is it about Boston/NE that makes you guys this weird combination of antagonistic yet incredibly sensitive?

I was just listening to WTF and They were talking about how bad Boston was for comedy because of the vibe there.
