Malcolm Butler, how did he get to this point in his career ?

I'm also dumbfounded how everyone missed on him. Even despite the error in recording his measurables, film *had* to have shown *something* of his top notch skills

What is National and Blesto Scouting Services?

Have you ever wondered how the NFL scouts are able to go to every NCAA school and watch film? Well they cannot do it all alone, so many NFL teams hire scouting services to assist them with their process. There are two major scouting services that NFL teams use including National and Blesto.

There are twelve teams in BLESTO (ATL, BUF, CHI, CLE, DAL, DET, HOU, JAC, MIA, MIN, NYG, PIT).

There are fifteen subscribers to the National (AZ, CAR, CIN, DEN, GB, KC, NO, NYJ, PHI, STL, SD, SF, SEA, TB, TEN). National Scouting also is the logistical organizer of record for the event in Indianapolis.

Five teams out of the thirty-two NFL teams are unaffiliated with either scouting combine organization: Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders and Washington Redskins.

I'm guessing that neither service scouted division two West Alabama - but the Patriots did take the time to do so.

Pretty much the two best-run franchises are on that list (the other one being Baltimore). Wonder what that means.

I'm also dumbfounded how everyone missed on him. Even despite the error in recording his measurables, film *had* to have shown *something* of his top notch skills, like:

- His awareness of when to turn his head for the ball, avoiding any PI in the process and giving him a chance to play the ball.

- His timing in his leaps to make a play at the high point of a jump ball.

His ability to get in position to play the ball with these two skills are what really set him apart from most other CBs who have otherwise good coverage skills.

Outstanding find by BB.

Regards,
Chris

Couldn't qualify academically, gets kicked out of school, went to Alcorn state, back to community college. With thousands of prospects, they aren't going to chase down someone who doesn't seem motivated, by his actions. Add subpar workout #s...

Fortunately for the Pats, either he matured, or he was always detemined, but how would you know at a small school?

Patriots use word of mouth from coaches, scouts etc.
