Jimmy GQ officially staying in SF per Schefter

Not a great look.
Sure hope this report didn't come from the 49ers, even though it almost certainly did...

I would think that an organization that is trying to trade a player would be singing his praises to up the trade value, but then again not everyone thinks this way.

Well, it allegedly came from "an unnamed member of the team’s coaching staff in 2018." If we assume that is accurate - which is a big "if" but stay with me here - then IMHO it would be logical to assume they are no longer on the SF staff.

Robert Saleh and Mike LaFleur seem to be the most prominent candidates that come to mind, though I am sure there are several others.

EDIT: A little further research shows LaFleur was the "Passing Game Specialist" in 2018, so he would have reason to complain if Garoppolo was out of touch. Another potential candidate would be QB Coach Rich Scangarello.

J-E-T-E trying to drive the price down while at the same time keep other teams away, perhaps...

49ers need to trade him already. They are being their usual stubborn selves.

How could that be when the 49ers are ready to ditch him for a guy who barely played last year where Jones was in the conversation for rookie of the year? As much as I think Jimmy is a JAG, he somehow has been has been on a team that has gone to the NFCG and Super Bowl in the years he’s been healthy. He’s also 31-15 as a starter with the 9ers. It’s really bizarre.

Jimmy is going to traded to a team that needs a starting QB.
The bizarre part is that people call Jimmy a JAG when over the last 5 years 49ers are
31-14 with him
8-27 without him

Yes this is just bizarre: either it's from a team who wants his value to go down so they can get him on the cheap, or it's from someone on the Rams' staff just messing with their division

Because that makes them 39-41 with him and his made of glassness

Never heard anything bad about Jimmy G for all his NFL career, now all of sudden there is a daily story with a negative trend. What is going on here? 49ers shouldn't have a reason to bad mouth him unless the leadership is worried Lance won't match up to his preseason hype and want to make it look like Jimmy wasn't a team player.

1 year contract and no trade clause.

Free to leave 2023

Nobody wanted that $25M salary and 9ers had leverage to make him restructure to stay. I think this is the best spot for him until the season is over.

I knew they were stupid for not taking a 2nd for him last year(if those reports were true), but i figured theyd get SOMETHING for him.

If leaves a UFA in 2023 and starts, wouldn't SF be in the running for a 3rd compensatory?

SF must be wanting no less than a 1st.

Seattle / Cleveland will give a 3rd /4th for him now. If I am garopollo I would bolt to Seahawks which is more long-term.

Only way sf does not trade him is if lance turns out to be a bust.

He would have to sign a massive deal somewhere. And the niners wouldn’t be able to get any fa of their own before draft week that same offseason or it would cancel his deal out and they get nothing. So a third is possible if he gets a huge deal, but still far from guaranteed.
