Let's assume Brady is going to sit 4 games. It seems more likely than unlikely at this point. If that happens and Jimmy plays well and Brady's play keeps up to what he has the last 2 years what do you think?

This will be the first time Jimmy G will need to take the training wheels off. He has 4 games and one against one of the top teams in the NFL off the bat in the Cards.

Lets assume he loses that one but plays well and plays well overall in the other 3. He will have 1 year left under contract cheap after this year and his trade value will shoot up. If Brady seems like he will be here a while longer then there is no way we can afford to hold onto both when that happens.

Perhaps you trade him next year or if you feel like pushing all your chips in trade him after the 4 games and sign Hoyer (for example) to back up Brady again. If he flashes well you could possible get a pretty good player for him.

Part of me would love that idea. The Pats go 3-1 and your suspension actually ends up improving the team by allowing them the chance to show off Jimmy and make a big trade. Such an F U to Roger.

football is not only about trading it should be mostly about playing (as good as you can and winning)
If G shows he can carry your team you keep him.
The timing is not too bad. Brady knows how many years he has and its not many.
If you think he has four or so, you're clearly under 40.
(Thats why this suspension is even harder to take - and its not acceptable)
From what I can see from the distance the team sees him as the next QB.
If he can pick up the reading of the game and leadership (both come from experience)
he can be a joy ride (he has the arm, he has the legs and seems cool under pressure).

They aren't keeping Garrapolo for 5 more years before starting. If he plays well, They will get a first and can make up for this year's screwing by two firsts next year in what should be a better draft.

The circle of life?

if you believe Brady plays for 5 more years you better tell his bones
id be happy with 2 - and I intent to enjoy them fully (of course the idiot took big part of the 1st away)

they will make up this year - by playing in the SB
(its the only make up that means something)

Same old ********, New year. We have been hearing this since Cassel went 11-5 and all he does is get better. Brady will play at least 4 more years and the Patriots believed that so much they gave him It as an extension. Garrapolo is just the latest in a long line of young QBs who will move on for a pick.

I think they hold on to jimmy g not because he is the heir apparent but that bill is smart enough to have a solid backup behind a 40 year old suspended QB

Do people realize jimmy was taken 12 picks ahead of mallett? There's nothing special really about the draft capital spent on him given mallet was tossed to the curb. Jimmy isn't the next guy.

They wont pay him 5m to watch Brady win SB. Trade him and develop another high pick in 2 years.

So you expect Brady to be suspended again?

JG would need to go 4-0 and completely DOMINATE all four games for BB to even consider not starting Brady game 5.

But lets say JG does really well, goes 4-0 and brady comes back and is a little hohum out of the gate, BB would STILL not sit brady because you can't just expect someone to be lights out 1 game back after missing time.

The only way JG sees significant playing time after the 4 games is if brady gets hurt, or brady just doesnt play well.
