Man, that must suck...
Jetsman, at the start of every season, what's your goal? Be real. I'm curious. What do you really hope for?
I hope for a SB trophy myself. Now, I can remember when I didn't. I remember when I wanted to "solidify" a spot as a "perenniel" playoff "contender" (as opposed to being the division overlord, hoping -- and realistically at that -- for yet another super bowl.)
Is that about where you are? Hoping "this is the year" the Jets squeek by the Pats for a division title, to get crushed by one of the other three or four elite teams in the AFC?
Or do you plan to ride the legs of Michael Pittman's old backup, and the arm that's thrown more knuckleballs than Tim Wakefield and Phil Niekro, all the way to one flukey super bowl victory, before slipping back into mediocrity? Do you even dare to wish that prior to the conclusion of your miserable life as a fan, that you get to feel for one day the way we've felt for a good six years now?
You know you have a point. The best fan is a die-hard fan. We all endured many Jetsian seasons. We even watched a great coach depart for New York, accompanied by Bill Parcells. And My God, the theft of Curtis Martin!!!
But somehow, that all seems to have come out okay.
So what is it you really wish for at the outset of a season, Jetsman? Really, really, deep in your heart?
It's to be us, isn't it?
Well, visiting's the next best thing. A man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a Foxboro for?
