I am the least PC person in the world.......That being said....Ask any kid with red hair the verbal abuse they have had to deal with all their life. Socially, they live with a stigma that has yet to be confronted by the PC police and I absolutely believe Dalton is sensitive about the label and views it as mean spirited stereotyping. I agree with him. Tagging someone with the label "red" or "ginger" etc. is the equivalent of bullying and there is no room in our society for petty attacks.
My son had a coach that openly referred to a red-headed player as "ginger" and the result was the other players adopted the same name. You could visibly see how this nickname deflated the kid every time it was spoken. I confronted the coach and gave him the choice of rectifying the problem he created or letting the school administration handle what I considered, at a bare minimum, bullying. The coach was ignorant but not a fool and he wisely did a 180 and changed his ways and had a sit down with the players he corrupted.
Regarding Watt.......IMO....an example of an unfiltered "dumb jock" culture gone unchallenged for too long. I just wish Dalton was more forthcoming regarding his irritation instead of dancing on the edges.
Just my two cents.
Dalton is known as the "Red Rifle" is he not? I always assumed this nickname was on account of his red hair. This dust up with Watt now has me second guessing that assumption. Perhaps "Red Rifle" isn't about red hair at all and Andy Dalton is really a Russian Spy!!!
