Most realistic would probably be something like:

A. Two #1s for a #1 and #2
B. Two #1s for a #1 and #3
C-X. Like A or B, but with later picks thrown in to even things up.

That kind of deal could get the Pats picking in the mid-teens.

Interesting point...say the Rams' top DL targets are all off the board at #13 but one of the Patriots' top guys is still there. #13 and #52 for #24 and #28 is a realistic deal. Still, I'd bet on overall trades down -- and especially into next year, since we can't expect any comp picks!

I'm sure the Pats are the #1 call if anybody wants to trade a 1st next year plus a 2nd this year for a 1st this year.

Ditto a 1st this year for an appropriate 2nd plus 3rd this year.

But the truth is, we can't know.

About the only thing we can be near-certain of is that a CB will get taken high, and even that only if Asante isn't signed to a long-term deal before the draft.

Safety? Makes sense, but they have about 6 they seem to like, if you count Willie Andrews.

WR? Makes sense, but they have four fairly young ones already, counting Jackson.

LB? Unless they can get a guy who they absolutely love, they're unlikely to bother.

DE? Don't need another expensive one if Warren re-ups.

DT? A mid-round value pick seems more likely.

Second CB? Make sense, but Samuel/Hobbs/Gay/first CB pick/Scott is a pretty good crew.

TE? Puh-leeeze. And then only if they think Watson is a danger not to re-sign.
