Aside from the science of breaking down fake science, I just tend to remind people of the very simple facts

The Colts footballs were deflated but the wrote that deflation off by assuming the "better" numbers for the Colts were the accurate ones

Wells/Goodell rationalize their punishment of the Patriots by assuming the "worse" numbers for the Patriots were the accurate ones
