I wonder what (if anything) he's implying in the red bit?

Re: Heath Evans wants to retire a Patriot.

Just "OK, I get they don't have the money to resign me just yet, but I know they'll figure something out."

Nothing new: two years ago, he told the Globe: "Fit-wise, it couldn't be more perfect. . . . I could care less about money. I'm a loyalist. They were good to me at a time the game of football wasn't."

And, as I've said before, he's one of those guys that makes it easy to root for the Pats.

That he realizes he plays a non-glamour position with lesser cap implications than QB.

Nice to see that he wants to remain a Patriot.

I'm curious. Does anyone know how many offensive snaps Evans was on the field for this season compared to last?

As long as there are only 10 other Patriots at the time, I don't much care. ;)

    2008: 213 snaps, 19%

2007: ? - I don't know. I couldn't find a season total anywhere, but he only played in ten games in 2008 compared to all 16 in 2007.

Heath Evans is the kind of player you can be proud to root for. I hope he stays with the team. But I think the question won't be money, it will be if the Pats want him back. I don't think he's going to ask for the moon salarywise.

He is a great value player .He comes in as a blocking FB, receiving full back ,a receiving TE and blocking TE in some formations. He is big enough to block bigger OLB for some time[2007 playoff where merriman could not seal the gap and heath was devastating in that game and stood out alot as maroney was not getting touched ].He has become better with each year. Most importantly he does not have butter finger or fumblities which you need from your utility guy who does alot of things .

As much as I like Heath, it's not necessarily going to be his decision. I mean I really do like the guy and his attitude, but he probably would have been better to keep his own counsel there.

They might love him to death, but still decide they want that roster spot for a young RB or other position (hypothetically).

Not exactly the same as Wilfork or Brady saying it, know what I mean.:D

Dunno, but I do know that we got rid of that Offensive Coordinator who wasn't utilizing Heath's talents properly!

If that bum had utilized Evans more, we would have won the Super Bowl.
