ALS is horrible disease - it took three years for my granddad to die - most of it bedridden and often having nightmares from the medication.

I'm under the impression exposure to chemicals is a risk factor - my granddad was a welder....Gulf War I pilots flying in those burning oil wells got it too.

RIP Kevin Turner.

I have personal experience watching someone pass away because of it.

It's beyond cruel.

RIP.

Has a link between head trauma and ALS been established?

Media is too narrowly focussed on CTE but the problem appears to be broader.
Researchers looked at death certificates of the deceased players and determined that a player’s risk of death from diseases that damage brain cells was almost three times that of the general population, and a player’s risk of death from ALS or Alzheimer’s was almost four times higher than the general population.

One of the great Patriots moments. Turner was 46. He leaves a wife and three kids 12, 15, 18.

A little before my time, but horrible news. So sad whenever I hear someone passes away so young!!!

Oh man. R.I.P Kevin. :(

Far too young. :(

Awful news. I loved cheering for those teams.

Really sorry to hear this. Terrible disease.

Horrible. 46?
I will always remember him as one of the keys, the building blocks, who made the Patriots what they are today. I know he fell to the side for Byars in 1996, but prior to that, he was a key cog in the offense and in the Patriots resurgence.

May the Angels of His Mercy bring solace to all his family and friends.

Condolences to his family. I saw the Viks game at that time in St Pete Beach. Yikes. i was cheering thehole night. what a OTgame from Bledsoe and him. I liked him very much. very sad news and all the best to his wife and kids.
