The only halfway rational minds addressing "cameragate" today that I've heard/read: Smerlas, DeOssie and Ordway on WEEI's Big Show, the Globe's Mike Reiss, and Rod Woodson on NFLN. All the others either were ill-informed, ignorant, anti-Patriots, or some combination of the three.

I want to strangle Schlereth (insists the tapes were used in-game when the league confirms otherwise). Rich Eisen calls the tapes "outrageous" and accuses New England of "cheating" in the 2001 AFCC vs. Pittsburgh. Adam Schefter claims the Patriots' legacy is "forever tainted."

Despite Marshall Faulk's obnoxious presence, I came to consider NFLN a refuge from ESPN's woefully biased NFL coverage, but now it looks like there's nowhere left to turn -- at least, as far as national coverage is concerned.

Wilbon and Kornheiser were good on PTI too. They basically said this whole thing is nothing, and that they Walsh hype for months has been a farce and a waste of time.

Woodson was amazing on Total Access breaking down individual calls showing how some calls were easily deciferable by anyone on the field or the sidelines and how other signals wouldn't help because they would clearly change game by game or even over the course of the single game.

As a guy who lost to the Patriots in the playoff, he could have been petty. But from a national standpoint, he has been the best advocate for the Patriots I have seen.

Faulk will be back on NFLN tomorrow. I'm going to try and stay away from my television, because I spent a lot of money on it last fall and don't want to break it.

This list would be incomplete with applauding the blogging of much-maligned Mike Florio at PFT. His latest post mentions Brady calling out ESPN and how Brady is 100% correct.

Florio might have been part of the problem from the get-go in overblowing the whole thing in September, but he's been pretty rational and even-keeled with the Walsh issue.

Saw Banks on with Felger and Tanguay on Sports Tonight. Thought both Don and Felger were very fair to the Patriots in their comments. Felgie even took a swipe at "St. Tony" and how the Saint would never do anything wrong. Was great! :singing:

I will be honest, I must have missed Eisen doing what you said because, in what I saw, he didn't say that at all. When I saw him, he said that it was ridiculous to think that these tapes were used during the games and it didn't bring anything new to the table.

Curran touches on it in this.

Add Curran to the rational crowd.

Watch the replay of Total Access tonight at 10. Well, maybe not -- you'll want to shoot Eisen. It really lowered my opinion of him.

I'll be at a friends house. They don't have NFLN (Time Warner). So I'll miss it.

In Curran's article, here is the quote I think you are referring to:

To me, that smacks of sarcasm. Maybe I am giving Eisen too much credit, but that is what it seems like.

Eisen was a tough listen today. He was alternating between the "outrageous" stuff (which wasn't sarcasm) then having moments of clarity when he realized the tapes showed little. The reality of what he saw he was dead on with but the concept of "cheating" he struggled with; painfully to my ears.

I agree did not spend a lot of time in front of the TV, but tried to find some info tonite.. most of the TV people Clayton, Palantonio etc. want to keep it going.. WEEI was great, as expected today..

But here is what I do not get, while all the talking heads were talking the videos were in the background, these videos could have been taken anywhere in the stadium..

Tom Curran is always the voice of reason.

John Clayton was very good today, the only voice of reason I heard all day on ESPN. And he's usually such a smarmy little witch.

Eisen: "That was really tough to see -- a team cheating during the AFC championship game." Then Woodson proceeds to analyze some of the tape segments and explain to him how the whole episode wasn't that big a deal.

Eisen isn't all that bright and insightful, he's more a master of ceremonies than savvy football guy.

How was taping a game cheating, ??? still no one has awnsered this question for me.. In 2006 I understand there was a rule, but doing it now is against it... Those things we saw today , had no impact on games in the present of future...
