Bobby Petrino said Wednesday that spying on other teams and trying to intercept signals is commonplace.
Most teams don't hire someone to illicitly videotape the opposing team's coaching signals — like the Patriots did last Sunday against the New York Jets — but trying to decipher codes, cadences and signals are very much a part of the sport, they said.
"It's not something that hasn't happened before," said Petrino, who shields his face with his laminated play sheet to avoid lip readers when he calls plays to quarterback Joey Harrington from his headset. "I don't know to this extent."
