Lawyer says he wants to play for Seattle. Personally, I'm kind of surprised that he's been able to hang on this long.

He's been nothing more then average or below for a number of seasons now. His time has come and gone.

Before anyone even says it: no thanks. Lawyer was very good in his time, but he's been average or worse for a long time now. James Sanders is significantly better than Milloy is, at this point.

All I can think about is Boldin owning him in wildcard game, on Boldin's TD.

Seeing Milloy becoming further and further away from him.

ya, we sometimes get too sentimental for past players, and Lawyer definitley fits that billing. I was a big fan of him while he was here (I have his jersey), so while I would be happy if he came back in a reserve roll, I understand that the team has better interests.

I'm sure it was tough for Belichick to cut him the first time. I'd guess he doesn't want to do it again.

  9. I still have my jersey as well.

    And Bledsoe's.

    And Bruschi's...

    I guess I better get Mayo's now.

"3. I think if you want to know why the Atlanta Falcons whacked safety Lawyer Milloy on Sunday night, all you need to know is this: He was a gigantic pain in the rear end. Clubhouse lawyer, yakker, complainer. Totally not a Mike Smith, one-for-all, all-for-one guy."

Yup, Like I said before - Get a Mayo Jersey, you'll get 10-12 years out of it at the stadium and then you can wear it to his HOF induction.

I don't remember Lawyer being a clubhouse problem, or that label being given to him at any point - News to me.

All I remember about him, other than his on field play, was that He and Tommy have been and continue to be great friends.

    what a shockah!

I loved Lawyer. But he did tend to make it about himself. the pre-BB regime had a few of those, with the notable exceptions on the 2001 team being Bruschi and Brown. Some good takes on that in the books that are out.

As players, i loved Milloy and Law, but i always felt they, and Bledsoe, thought they were the straws that stirred the drink and if they werent happy, theyd make sure everybody else knew it.

It's actually hard to think of anyone on the team now who makes that impression, though reports would say Lamont Jordan was a bit antisocial last year.

I never saw Lawyer play, but I've heard lots of good things. Jets or Browns next, I bet.

Belichick had to cut Milloy because he refused to re-negotiate his

contract. Milloy was due to receive a contract that was double

the salary of a good safety. Andy Wasynczuk negotiated some

awful contracts when he was with the Patriots.
